Exploration too slow and dumbed down

Exploration sounds really fun in its concept but ends up being really tedious after a while.

I'm currently Surveyor Rank and planned on making exploration my main business but the lack of reward, both visually and money wise is making me reconsider.

Travelling from one object to another is boring and takes a lot of time, scanning distances vary a lot depending on the type.
Scanning some objects takes way too long, I end up alt-tabbing or doing quick afks between each scan.
It's not rewarding enough, at best I got 100k out of a system and even when trying to plot a good route through interesting systems, I end up making about 80k and hour which isn't much considering trading rares with my 16T cargo gives twice as much in half the time and I don't feel like I'm stuck in a single activity for the next 8 hours or so.
Looking for clues in a system and discover new planets and such is actually pretty interesting but is trivialized once you get the best discovery scanner which frankly kills the feeling of exploration.
The contact tab should have a symbol in front of each unexplored object so we know which type they are without having to select/target them because as we all know, asteroid belts aren't worth much despite taking forever to scan at very close range so I'd rather just skip them and look for stars and planets.
