Exploration Voyages **New Episode 01/07**

When the galaxy finally opens up I will find my self either bounty hunting or exploring but probably spending most of my time in the great unknown.

I am sure there will be many places some people will never go so I decided I would make videos of the systems I visit. With only 5 systems to visit I decided to start with these.

Nice, Ep1 + 3 have rather abrupt endings, could you not fade them out?

This type of project seems a good argument for ED having an external video camera to record the journey, also one that doesn't include labels or orbit paths (or at least give an option to not record them, like a digital camera does with its 'timestamp option').

Great stuff. I really look forward to more of this sort of thing when the game goes live.

It's one of the reasons why I think they can (and should) put things in the game that are extremely rare, so much that an individual player is unlikely ever to see them. Most games now consider that wasted dev time. But we can see screenshots of videos of what others have discovered. It will mean a real sense of exploration and the unknown. Allow everyone to feel like there could be something out there that nobody has seen yet, and avoid that sense that after a month or two you've seen pretty much everything and now it's just variations on a theme.

With the changes between Elite (1984) and Elite: Dangerous, I can only imagine what Elite (2054) will bring us!

Good idea. You could make a catalog online searchable by the players of all systems that you are filming. And when there is the planetary landings, you could add the overflights of planets

speaking about exploration, does anyone know where you start as a player in the (final)game?
Can you choose your starting area. Or start everyone at the same place?

There were a number of different starting regions for different kickstarter tiers - Federation, Empire, Independent, Pirate and on the edge of explored space - plus the backers system. Within each region the actual system would be randomised. I would imagine newer players will also have some choice over how they start.

something you might want to consider is coordinates ;)

of course not quite relevant now but in the long term it should help.
