Exploration ZZZzzz

And about the station: whats about an UI that just makes some arrows to find the entrace? and don't come with that is not elite like- this is about a fantasy-future and that kind of technical software would be easy to do in a world where jump drives exist ;)

and about the exploration: well, i can find different looking planets? wow.. that is not the stuff an explorer like to find. He wants to find the unknown. Objects from a strange origin, alien devices.. not planets who might or might not have a ring

But apart from that (which right now makes the "old" x games a better choice to this point): why does the automatic slowdown sometimes work and sometimes not, when i target a station insystem flight. Sometimes it slows down correct, so i can jump to the station, sometimes it just is to fast and i have to turn back. (Every time i use the blue speed, to reach a point, if it is not to far away)

What about real space battles, with battle ships. Heard that this might be a future content and really hope for that.

And what about a faction bar, where i can see how long i have to work till my standing grows? they implented a few bars for minor factions, but not for the major ones, as it seems.

There are many little things that could really do some things to make this game better, but still: more content please. It's one thing to read all the gal net news, and another when these news doesn't seem to have much influence and the fractions don't even have special fraction homes and station, which would make them unique. Unique seems to be the best word to say, what is lacking in this game right now. What makes elite unique ? Besides the grafic, which is pretty nice.

It could be really good some day: but i fear it might be some day far in the future.. but who knows?

With regards to the station, the back side has red lights... the front green lights on 4 points of the back and front faces... look for those lights to help orientate yourself and as many others have said aim between the station and the planet it orbits then just before dropping out face the station and you will be pretty well lined up on its entrance

I guess if that is how you feel about exploration then I guess its not for you at this time then...

There are space battles, capital ship zones have occured in the past and will continue to occur in the future is my guess... Don't overlook the fun of engaging in battles in conflict zones either and even a single player can send a system into a state of civil war given enough time doing the right type of influence missions... Then there are the power crime sweeps and that sort of thing which is also multiple ship combat areas...

An overall faction bar would not be a bad idea I guess but still you do get to see if you are trending up or down on your mission completion page and on your commander status page. so perhaps either you have not noticed this feature yet or you want hard numbers I do not know which... It works for me at any rate...

The factions do have stations, and if I am not mistaken each major factions station has different lighting?? but yes faction space banners for major strongholds would be nice I think

Exploration does need an overhaul and some love, no doubt. In the Exploration Forums there's a thread collecting future ideas and so far, the brainstorming has been very productive, especially in terms of "more immersion", "more diversity" and "more mechanics".

You can check it here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=155742

That being said, exploration IS a rewarding playstyle. There are many people posting their pictures, their thoughts about weird systems, their journeys, their Blogs; you name it. Browse around a bit, it's not a very "fast" playstyle. You have to look for things (hence the name) actively and you pass maybe 20 systems before you find that "jewel" you were looking for.

But that makes it so rewarding, no?

The Coriolis stations arent cubes, Cubes have 6 sides
There are arrows on the HUD Holo that point to the entrance, there are also Red Lights on the non entrance side and the dock port side rotates anti-clockwise
Or he could, perhaps, y'know, get a docking computer and stop worrying about it?

Aim for a point between the planet and the station then turn towards the station you should exit more or less facing the entrance.
I've been finding this not to be working very well recently. I come between the planet and station, turn so I have the planet behind me and pop out right beside it instead of in front.

as for the 'auto' speed thing, go at full speed and then when you get down to 10 seconds from target adjust your throttle back into the blue and it will slow down, then once it reaches 7 seconds, adjust the throttle to keep it at 7 and you will cruise in smoothly without overshooting

you can also bind a button for 75% throttle and hit that at 10 seconds.
It sets you at the perfect approach speed.

Sounds like another player wanting a "Win" button.
Sorry ED is not a hand holding game.

Yeah, we all know that, no need for a reminder here. I think FD needs to hear the people complaining about not enough content, be it exploration or whatever else is in-game. As those are the majority of complaints about the game. The core gameplay is really good I spent straight 6-7 hours when I first installed it and was amazed by the galaxy and being able to explore it. Later I realized how empty the game is and I am not really installing it again, until something big changes.

Aside from the station entry problem that the OP is having, I agree with their opinion.

Really dealbreaker: that cubic stations. They look like borg made and every time i ask myself which high tech civ would build space stations like this, where there is always the trouble to find the entrace. It sucks.

The original 1984 "Elite" game had those stations, thus ED had to have them. Your criticism is somewhat like buying a MacBook and saying "I really hate the glowy apple on the lid...".

It's all about the glowy apple, man.

Exploration can seem very mundane, but i still enjoy it, always that buzz of finding something cool. Last trip out i did a 24,000Ly round trip, best thing i found was a Lava like high metal content world with a metallic ring, in very close orbit to the host. The ring was also very narrow too.

Was just really cool.

Also, easiest 10 million iv ever made :D

Don't understand what's NOT to like about exploration, but that's probably just me. I love going somewhere new, seing something I've never seen before [and if I'm the first, that's a bonus!]. I find it relaxing. I prefer proper 'surveying' [DSS of all objects] to 'burp and slurp' exploring [honk the horn, fuel scoop, on to the next system] but I do enough of the latter when on my way to/from my survey grounds - as I will when I eventually get round to my BBR A* run sometime next month. The (large) paycheck at the end is real nice, but it's not really what I do it for, and the low Cr/h does not bother me as I'm not of teh mindset that says you need a certain balance in under a set time to 'win' the game.
