Newcomer / Intro Explored systems data

If I explore a system which was previously unexplored, and then sell the data to UC, does that data then become available to everyone in the game?

and if not, what's the point?

I'm currently parked about 250ly towards the centre of the galaxy from Sol... whether I will try to actually travel to the centre I don't know, it's a LONG way :)

i'm not sure on if other players can get your data. what i do know is several players can scan the same system then get paid for that info when they sell it to the NPC's. i also know that the first player to sell data on a system will get a "discovered by" credit on the systems description in the galaxy map in the 1.1 update. there may, or may not be a bonus payment for being the first to scan a system, last i saw the devs were still thinking about that.

I could be wrong but I thougt u can only buy system data from the galaxy map on systems that have been previously scanned...

If you sell your data to UC, then it does become available to others in game.

But I don't think the UC shop is universal to every system, which data on particular systems is available to buy seems to vary from station to station, especially between stations with different allegiances, not sure on the exact game mechanics of how it works though.

Exploring still needs a long way to go....needs some attention from FD:

1-No, it doesn't affect anyone. The data doesn't become available for everyone. Only you.
2-No, there is no way to know if you are done with a system unless you have an advanced scanner.
3-No, there is no way of knowing if you are the first person to visit the system and indeed the pioneer and discoverer of it.
4-No, there is no sell all button when you come back with your private and only-you-to-see explorations.

Some of these we hope are being looked at by FD and be fixed...but don't hold your breath as many other issues might be up the ranks in priority....

And hey, even in spite of all that, exploring is still soooooo worthy and nice...until then though, no effect on anything in the game for others.

From what I read (cant find the post now) it looks like the 'discovered by' tags will be per-body, not for the systems. The body will have to be scanned not just pinged by a d-scanner and the tag will go to the first CMDR to sell the data.

I'm finding exploring way more addictive and rewarding than I thought.

The 'Galactic Book of Records' is a great addition to exploring, adds a bit of fun and gives me something to do on the long hauls.

I do have the advanced scanner. did a bunch of credit grinding to set up a decent discovery ship (asp), with good shield and weapons in case. Paid off too, I defeated an NPC (I think in an eagle) which would've given me a hard time in an adder. Although the asp is no fighter ship it's not bad, with decent thrusters. Only thing it lacks is the class A FSD, but that's about 5m to buy...
