Explorer FC owners - what's your loadout?

No not what services are you going to buy but what ships are you planning on taking with you?

Me I'm going to take:

Mining Cutter - Gotta get that fuel!

Mining Python - See above but for the times I want something a little less time consuming to fill.

Krait Phantom - My main explorer.

Anaconda - Paper thin, jumps like a hyped up frog. For when I want to quickly make a trip back home.

Imperial eagle - Set up as a racer, for funsies in canyons and mine fields.

Imperial Clipper - Explorer, for basking.

Krait Mkll - Multirole (will have modules on board to outfit)

May take some others for photo ops and such but these are the ships with a guaranteed spot.

What are yours?

For exploring:
- Anaconda. Jump range is jump range and I like the places with not many stars.
- AspX. I still like that cockpit.
- Hauler. It's small and can be FAST while still having around 50 ly of jump range.

Mining Tritium:
- Cutter. 9 collectors at the same time and way faster than the T9 from asteroid to asteroid.

Canyons:
- Viper/ieagle: Need to try them beforehand and compare how they move.
- Krait Mk2: It can keep up with the fighters.

Other:
  • Cobra Mk IV. Small ship with lots of internals for its size.
  • Orca: Just because

I don't think I will carry a combat ship. If I do, it will be a chieftain.

For the first trip out, I’ll probably toss in most of the ships that I’ve “finished”—I.e., engineered as far as I plan to. Likely even the pure combat craft. The idea would be to drop a full suite off in Colonia, so that I’ll have to option of scooting back for non-exploration activities (bounty-hunting, etc.) when I want a change of pace, without trekking all the way to the bubble. Then I can build up another set in the Bubble whenever I get back there.

But for the guaranteed long-term population of the FC:
  • Mining ships: A Cutter and Python, for long and short runs into rings nearby. Probably for Tritium most of the time, but I’ll probably do a huge high-value-mineral run at least once, now that I‘m not locked out of any other activities between mining stuff and selling it.
  • Cargo ships: Either another Cutter or (more likely) a T9, built for max capacity. Likely just for Tritium hauls at stations.
  • All four of my prime exploration ships (Anaconda, Phantom, AspX, DBX). Each will have its own “job.”
    • Anaconda kitted for speed runs back to civilization.
    • Phantom: medium-long range exploration from the FC. It’s the “endurance” explorer, with stripped-down kit for max jump range.
    • AspX: short-medium range exploration. Significantly lower range than the Phantom b/c better thrusters, etc. Likely a lot of use exploring a sphere around each FC stop.
    • DBX: Niche investigation of planetary sites because of its small footprint. Will keep it kitted for Guardian ruins (with point defense, etc.). Likely not much use, which is fine because the small scoop and cockpit bars annoy me in the long term.
  • A Dolphin kitted for exploration, in case I run into some extreme-heat thing that I want to investigate.
  • A couple of fun/fast ships with medium or even short ranges. Probably iCourier, Viper, Eagle. Not sure yet.
  • At least one combat ship, just in case some relevant content pops up in NE while I’m out in the black.
  • At least one “general mission” ship, likely my Krait Mk II. Again, just in case an opportunity presents itself.
I assume, without having actually checked in the beta, that we can’t “store” passengers on a FC. If I’m mistaken, I might consider building and bringing a big passenger liner (Orca or Beluga) and using the FC to tour some popular destinations, too.

Cost isn't the issue for me, it is how long will it take to push one 45,000 LY out and how much upkeep to keep the lights on once I put it there. As for my ships, my K2, probably a mid sized miner, and maybe something small and light and quick to just tool around in. Oh, and the biggest barrel of beer I can squeeze into hold. As you can tell, I'm not convinced a carrier will fit into my universe. We'll see, depending on what FD does with the final design and capabilities.

I haven't decided yet. I'll be parking mine out in the boondocks on the unfashionable end of the eastern spiral arm of the galaxy so the only thing I'll really need is a mining ship of some description, I'll probably fit up a Cutter or Python for that work and take along a Courier for fun.

Thx to Q's calculation sheet it should be possible to enable all services and guarantee a 2 years upkeep within 10Bn.
So I'll stuff everything in what's possible ;)
And as my FC the DSSA Kraut will be situated in the Outer Orion Spur some 12-15k from Sol I have a moderate need for fuel compared to some others :)

Planned fleet on the carrier :
  • Cobra MkIV: True Explorer
  • Dolphin: Shuttle
  • iEagle: Racing
  • Krait Mk2: Defence
  • Orca: JetSetJet
  • Python: Miner
  • T9: Trader

Well, this is theorycrafting at its best as we don't really know which numbers Fdev will give us in June. And even if the numbers will be valid I still need some time in Borann :D and read "some time" as 4 Bn ;)

A dedicated thread about the outbound journey - Rudi's Ride - is under construction ;)

Nearly missed: 2222t of beer and narcotics are also calculated :D
