Explorer level up?

I went to Sag A* and then way off for quote a bit of black hole farming - much more than I ever wanted to do - I'm sure there are several dozens black holes that now have my name attached. I successfully made it back to my base at Nehet, where I spend about half an hour selling all the data I gathered. (And I almost ended up needing the Fuel Rats - I was so transfixed in the jumping routine with my 64 ton fuel tank in my Asp Explorer, that I failed to notice the fuel running low. And I was inmidst of a field of unknown red-but-unscoopable stars. After two or three failed attempts to find a scoopable star - it was slightly more orange than the unscoopable orange-red ones, I finally made the jump to a good one. Whew!)
.
While I sold my stuff, I paid attention to my explorer rank. I departed as a lowly Pathfinder. At one point, I looked at my rank: Ranger, 60%. I kept on selling, but it stayed at 60%. I still kept on selling (all in all, the trip earned me about 45M credits), and at one point it jumped to 80%. I thought: "okay, like update every five minutes or so". I kept on selling the remaining data for another couple of millions - but the rank is still at 80%, to this day. Stats say I explored for 49,850,000 CR in total. Depending on the source, that might actually coincide with 80% Ranger, but I still wonder why it didn't update. Has anybody else experienced this?
.
(By the way: black holes look cool because of the gravity lens effect - but I suppose they're the safest thing to fly around in the entire game. Totally the opposite of neutron stars - while it's very easy to hit a neutron star's gravity field and emergency drop, a black hole's gravity field is a tiny circle, barely visible. You have to try hard to hit it, I never did, even though I didn't always pay close attention about where I was flying.)

Im guessing you relogged?
If not thats odd as Im 20% ranger too with only 27 million credits worth of sold data
I might contact support if it is that odd

@Flash Baggins: I relogged not only once - it was last week's Wednesday that I made it back. :) It looks like there is nothing but sudden 20-40-60-80 steps?

75% ranger here at 46.48m credits so that looks about right. The updates to the progress bars are sporadic, you're probably grand though.

If you come back from your next trip and it's not budged after another 10-15m of data then it might be time to raise a ticket but until then it seems fine.

I have noticed that the percentage bar update isn't instant, but has a few minutes delay. So selling a couple of pages and checking the bar often showed no change for me when I was selling the data from my last trip, but a few minutes later it would update fine.

As above.

Afaik the exploration database (since it's huge) is not on the normal servers since it doesn't need to process requests from players instantly like the combat and ship position servers etc. For this reason yes there is a slight update delay as it feeds through the systems :) I may be wrong but I think I'm right.

And even if you rank up there's another delay (or game restart) before you see your new rank's decal appear in the outfitting screen.

You really should try to hit it. Well, not at Sag A*, that one hurts a bit.

Some of the smaller black holes don't even have exclusion zones. That means that after the emergency drop you can fly right into the center of such black holes and get some really wild visual effects. It's well worth it, although you might want to try that at the beginning of a journey rather than the end. You know, just in case...

Thanks for the comments. As I said previously, it's not updated even after several days. So "slow/not instant updating" sadly isn't the answer.

I won't raise a bug anyway - I don't care enough. But it would have been nice to know whether others encountered that phenomenon as well.
