Ship Builds & Load Outs Explorer´s fitting 2.1.x

Words in advance:

This one is not for rim-explorers because I don´t emphasize on jump range rather than speed for security when returning to the bubble.
Maybe the pre 2.1 guides have to be rethought; it was all about jump range, not so much about safety.

SRV ...
when I find a nice place a still can land there an make screenshots even without a SRV. I don´t see the point in having one (or even two) except collecting materials for the AFMU or jumponium, but that again is only for people heading to the rim which ... I don´t.

2.1 AI ...
With the better AI I would absolutely reconsider taking better shields and thrusters ... for when you return to the bubble and get interdicted.
I spent evenings on coriolis to find the best ships for exploration and escaping ... numberwise.

:) This would be my ASPX ... for people who love some range

okay, may be the hull reinforcement is a bit over the top. Take a SRV instead or a fuel tank.

:) The Cobra MK III ... not spectacular but I was surprised ... you can´t have a faster ship when returning to the bubble and have to escape interdictors. And: it´s cheap :)

:) The Imperial Clipper ... because it´s my main ship and it´s fast, looks great, and it´s jump range is still ok if the rim isn´t your destination. SRV lovers could even drop the fuel tanks and get a SRV bay and a cargo slot. So ... comfy thing.

I didn´t consider the Anaconda because ... I don´t have the money and I don´t like the ship anyways (sry).
I even played with the Imperial Courier (nice design ! and 22 ly jump range) and the DBX, but the latter is to slow and both can only manage one AFMU.

And don´t forget the cockpit ... unobstructed view in the Clipper. Nice roundview in the ASPX.
And remember: Don´t paint your ship black. It´s cool looking in hangar but also a pain in the back when trying to make nice screenshots.

Anyways, if you want to go with low shields, D class stuff and a slow vessel, you can call the group that escorts explorers back to the bubble. Still forgot their name (shame on me).1

I made a pretty similar asp when taking it out a couple of days past:

https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/0pft...023c-400i292f2i.Iw18WQ==.Aw18WQ==?bn=Explorer

I used upgraded thrusters so my boost speed is over 440 if interdicted and I did take also 1 hull reinforcement. Most likely it will be useless during this trip, but if it won't be then it will be very useful indeed. That 1 class 3 hull booster almost doubles asp's hull strength and gives also some protection against ramming/collisions as such. Adding 8 tons to hull gives me one time important boost of 260 hull strength and some resistance. Adding 35 tons to shields would only give me 130 shield strenght. Actually if I would take class 4 shields in that level 5 slot, they only weight 10 tons and give only 60 MJ less than 40 ton class 6 shields (170 vs 230).

I left that one class 5 empty in the example build. Put there what ever you want. I have in the past had some hairy situations when I have almost ran out of fuel, because I have been thinking of other stuff and had not scooped for a while. I put in there a huge ass extra fuel tank, which SURELY hits my jump range. Still with upgraded FSD my jump range is over 40 LY even with that build. If I would strip down everything to minimum weight it would still only be around 46+ LY or so. That is a quality of life type of change.

Hi there,

does anyone have a plan what engineer modifications are leading to best jump range for an Anaconda (besides of FSD L5 mod of course :) ) ? Would like to understand what modification is helping reducing mass (which is main task I guess), but maintaining reliability for long range exploration trips exploring the edges of the galaxy. Thank you for your thoughts/experience... O7

I'm assuming an explorer Conda build so with little or no armament there's no mass reduction from lightweight weapon mounts although some other area's for weight reduction include

SHIELD GENERATOR - ENHANCED, LOW POWER SHIELDS (GRADE 5) 8 - 20% mass reduction about 3 T with a 6D shield

Possibly a smaller overcharged powerplant could save some weight but you're probably looking at range increases of sub 0.5 LY for each of these mods
