Ships Explorer Sidewinder

I really like the sidewinder, wondered if anyone would help do an explorer sidewinder build, I have made a start:
Hope this link works.
I have most the engineers unlocked and the Guardian range extender module. Will the 1A fuel scoop be enough or a tedious scoop experience?
o7 and thanks in advance.

I wouldn't fly with a 1a scoop.
Your fsd is using 900kg for a max jump, but you're only scooping 42kg/sec at max, so it's at least 20sec every jump.
If that's OK for your pace, np, but I would suggest to test it first in a test run.

The 2D power plant is running hot itself, and overcharging this makes it even worse.
You can go with a 2a which is by default much cooler running, and with low emission experimental g3 you get it even colder.
When you switch off vehicle hangar and afmu while flying, it provides enough power.

In my experience a lightweight sensor is ok for an explorer, instead of long range, there you can save another tonne of weight.

The power distributor can be engineered with engine focus, it should make it possible to boost more often, but that's cosmetics :)

Oh, and one heat sink launcher is enough, as you can synth new charges if you have the materials...
But that's only 0.2t less weight and you don't gain much range through it...

TL;DR

I like it OP. If that's your bag, and the notion of flying this ship on exploration runs engages you then really, for me, that's all you need. Feeling a connection to the ship is a good thing.

Not my bag, it's just way too fragile for me. That SRV hangar suggests landings, and a mistake in a high-G world would rip through that shield and integrity. But that can also be part of the appeal I suppose. I like the vibe on this one so go for it and happy (discovery) hunting!

Even on explorer builds I always fit an armoured + thermal spread power plant (2A in this case) it adds a lot of integrity to the one module you can't repair, also an overcharged plant will make scooping a toasty experience! ;)

Also set the pips 4 sys, 2 engines and power the PD down it still works you just can't adjust the pip balance

EDSY build as it can display thermals useful for exploration and some weapon arrays https://edsy.org/s/vgPluIe

Heavy duty your hull, lightweight makes no difference to weight/jump range.

Learn to fss during scooping. Never wait on scooping again.
Often I find half the system blocked behind the scooping star, so I prefer to fill up while traversing the star full Throttle, move away from it a bit and then fss...
But that's just me :)

The damage you might get in the black is percentage based, so 1% pp damage will still be 1%, no matter the integrity ;)
