Explorer thoughts on RNG exploit

Saying it's okay others cheat because you don't cheat yourself doesn't really help fixing the state of the game. "Open" has always been broken in this game, mostly because of that kind of apathy from the majority.

What is (or was) this exploit?
It's a way of rolling a G5 mod and using G1 mats. So it's not an exploit that results in something that wasn't intended to be done, but an exploit that massively shortens the time required to obtain a mod in the intended way.

Why post a thread about it, then? There's so much threads discussing this to death, I honestly fail to see the point of someone who doesn't care about this to start yet another one.

Why don't you tell us how your long trip is going, instead? I'd rather hear about that :)

That's a fair question. I ask because 99% of the discussion in DD has been from PVP players in open. I am simply curious about the other side of the coin so to speak. How do the people that do not regularly take part in PVP feel about this? I got curious because of a lot of the grandiose proclimations that people have made about never playing ED again because of this, etc, etc, etc,. I want to hear the opinions of people that have generally held a more level headed perspective on how the game is progressing. Granted I don't care one whit about it, and probably would not even if I took part in PVP. My only requirements from a video game are, 1. Is it entertaining? and 2. Does it hold my attention? as I said though that is just me I do not delude myself into believing that the majority of the game playing population feels as I do. Also I believe that it is important for FD to hear what we have to say about it in a forum that is generally civil and not as knee jerk as some others here on the boards. Discussion is always a good thing.

As far as my trip... :) I am still having a blast I anticipate I will be at the end of the Carina arm in about a week or so then I have a few k LY's to back track and cross down into the Perseus arm. That one is going to be the long slog I will pass within spitting distance of the bubble, and I am sure the temptation to jump back to civilization will be pretty stiff after being out the better part of two years. and the Perseus arm is so long I have no idea how long it will take me to make it to the end. All in all though life is good in the deep dark nothing.

Oh, wow, I can see how that would be popular. ^^ I also imagine it would disproportionally affect some modules over others, some of the high level mats are nearly as easy to obtain as the low level ones, but some of them... huh.
