Explorer Warning - The largest stars in our galaxy - Aren't!

I've been busy getting to all the biggest known stars in our Galaxy (That I can find anyway) - Still not found the top 3...

Anyway cut a long story short - they are way off the correct size, I mean really really WAY OFF!

Very disappointing - I guess it will get fixed at some point.

So word of warning if you are thinking of visiting the big top 10, don't yet.

Spoiler Example
RW Cephei - Should be around 1,430 Solar Radius
Actual size in game - 115 Solar Radius :(
So I guess i'll have to go back when they have been fixed/added.

Please no-one mention the word 'ticket' this is an exploring issue and there are much more important things to do like balance shield cells <sigh>

Might as well dart over to the Bubble Nebula and make a vid...

Grrr

Devs have shown they can and will correct inaccuracies in the stellar forge. Suggest ticketing - or getting some dev's attention, for this issue.

Hey nutter - did you take a screenshot of RW Cephai?! Would be curious to see how large it is.

I did but seriously not worth sharing - Betelgeuse is in the game and I believe the correct size which currently makes it 10 times bigger than my example! lol - of course in real live Betelgeuse should be smaller by 500 Solar!

How big is Betelgeuse?

Size...

I think it's the biggest star that you can reach in less than 50 jumps. I hope it has the same size ingame.

This is disappointing news. But kudos for bringing it to light.

I don't know if its just an oversight by frontier or if it's more down to technical reasons of not being able to put these supergiant's in game. VY Canis Majoris is still the largest star I know of, and I've looked at LOTS of giants on my travels. Was really hoping to see more impressive stars than that. :(

This is indeed disappointing news. I hope they manage to fix these in due time. I'm about to begin a big exploration trip and one of the major highlights I've been waiting for is seeing the largest stars in their full scale.

Basically this is your own fault.

If you had packed the foot pump, as advised in the explorer manual (p 97) - you could have whipped it out and pumped them up on the way through. Hey presto - full sized star. But ohhh no!! You had to pack the cigars instead.

*shakes head*

The shame of it.

Doesn't mean it can't be ticketed. Don't you worry at all - They will fix things at their leisure, in the order they deem most important, as always ;)

There are some that DON'T pack a feet pump for an interstellar trip ? O tempora, O mores !

(as a side note, if VY Canis Majoris was the right size, how would that translate in-game ? Regarding things like fuel scooping, gravity well, flying in circles around the star going wheee and such things ?)

Just thought I would bump this back up now the FD team are back.

Could FD take a look at the Top 10 Largest stars in our galaxy, the ones I visited were about 10 x smaller than they should be - no rush - but needs to go on the to do list :)

Also maybe a Ticket Category for this sort of thing - 'Content Issue' or similar.

Cheers

Nutter

I have been to a few biggies and they look a similar size to other stars, but when you look at the distance from the star when you drop in to the system you are about 10x further away.

Betelguese it was about ~20K ls if I recall correctly

Betelgeuse definitely doesn't look like other stars when you warp in, even though you are incredibly far away it fills the screen. VY Canis is insanely huge in game, it's a long trip, but well worth the visit.
