explorers be on your look out for structures

There was a wishlist of things to discover.
One was structures of old civilisations.

"IT’S A MYSTERIOUS PLACE, THE MILKY WAY
There’s so much more out there that we haven’t even touched on in these livestreams… puzzles to solve, mysterious abandoned structures, geographical marvels and ancient sites. We’ll leave these for you to find Commander. Good luck out there."

David mentioned something along these lines in one of His interviews.

Structures.

I wonder if they are in game already, or 2.2 artsy pass of Signal Sources on the planets surfaces.

Geological features where also mentioned, included RARES found in geysers.

So I also wonder if the RNG finding "rares" on planets should have been implemented post Engineers, to stop all the whining about them being hard to find.

Comming into corithia 4b today, a lifeless rock, pock fulled with craters.

Sent chills down my spine on my approach - I've been waiting a long time to fly down to a planet in a game, somedays I still can't get over it.

If season3 continues this cross polination of upgrades to the system, we'll see planetary upgrades during season3 even if it's billed as the walking round the ship update.
Maybe the pilots federation will be banned to land on planets with life, after their handling of the barnacles.
So a planetary scan must be procurred before we descend into atmospheres to insure there is no life there.

Giving the planets team more wiggle room to imlemented Atmopherics without the messiness of re-creating life.

As a glorified tourist I am thinking a lot about the mysteries the void may offer too us - if we are lucky enough to look athe the right spot at the right moment. I imagine that Frontier was surprised how fast Jaques station was found. Or did they gave the commander a hint?

What if frontiers has hidden easter eggs and other stuff in the game that nobody finds? What if the other 15 engineers are sitting on small moons outside the bubble than no commander will ever scan?

But who cares? I am just a space tourist cowboy commander flying through the void only to be able to say: I was there.

If they do exist, they should be very rare and very hard to find, like barnacles. Putting them on every world will cheapen the experience of finding them to no end.

Sure, not every planet......but even if you put them on only 1 in 1000 landable planets.....that'd still be a huge number ;).

Considering the number of systems still left to explore, a big red arrow will be quite helpful.

Is there no end to the toxicity that you people like to share on these forums.

You lead such sad lives.

Alien antiquities?

Sounds like a commercial opportunity to me!

The only thing I wonder at is if we would recognize them. There are quite a few examples of lost cities and temples on Earth going unnoticed for sometime. When dealing with a Xeno architecture that may be "grown" in some way would we realize what they are?

I'm really hopeful the alien structures in game will be so different to us.

Tools you say?
Like a drone explorer limpet, similar to the prospectors. Blast one out towards the planet, and it will capture the moons and all.
Mulitple planets, multiple drones.

But won't we run out?

Considering their size taking up a an entire unit of cargo,
a Limpet fabricator would require module class size 2 and above.

Oh an explorer drone limpet control module needs to be created.
Maybe it's a 2 in one, fabricator and AI controller.

The exploring Commander could fire off the drones after a honk, go harvest more material for the fabricator and wait for the drones to relay their information.

Yeah, and in my version synthesis and fabricators require time and be powered under that time (SYS) and they generate heat.

Goeman will you please move this to the explorer thread now that I've posted in it? Or do I need to add equations first? ;)

m=E/c2

There you go!

They already exist.

Oh you mean you want the game to do it all for you... right.

No, something to play with.

The only instrument we have is the SRV scanner which I think is cool, and the blue circle thing which I think is horrible.

Oh I forgot the horrible horrible HONK!
