Explorers Haven: Stop at Keyes Port upon Returning from the Core

Last night I returned from a trip to Sag A* in my Asp, the Heart of Gold. My estimate is that I have around 200M of data to sell. Returning to the bubble safely is a priority. A common procedure for many explorers seems to be stopping for repairs and retrofitting at a station on the outer edge of the bubble. Some explores even sell all of their data right there. I won’t be doing that, because my plan is to get as many permits as possible with my data.

My checklist for an optimal safe haven station was:

1. On the outer edge of the bubble
2. In direct line between Sag A*and my home system (Sol)
3. Station is very close to the system’s primary star
4. Station has defensive capabilities (no outposts)
5. Has a repair facility
6. Has significant outfitting options
7. Can get to my home system on one tank of fuel

For me CD-28 12950 / Keyes Port was the best choice as it meets every requirement.

1. So close to the edge of the bubble that I saw no NPCs until actually at CD-28 12950.
2. My home system is Sol and CD-28 12950 is directly in line with Sol and Sag A*.
3. Keyes Port is only 27 ls from its star.
4. Keyes Port is a Coriolis Starport. If a pirate were to attack me in the “no firing zone” the station would defend me. I had the happen once in my Type-9.
5. Yep, Keyes Port has a repair facility.
6. Keyes Port has a High Tech economy and has significant outfitting options. All but one of items that I needed was available. I may take more ships to Keyes Port for outfitting. I had to settle for a 5B Shield Generator. No problem, as only have to get to Mercury.
7. CD-28 12950 is only 110 ly from Sol, so no fuel scooping in route.

I was able to get to Keyes Port with no incidents. Most of the NPCs were local security. The small trip to Sol was also uneventful. For getting system permits I am flying “The Trillian” (my Vulture). Pirates don’t mess with me when I am in “The Trillian”. Sold 5M of data at Tau Ceti to get the van Maanen's Star system permit. So far so good. When I finish selling my data, I will provide a full report.

Hello Mr. President,. I too used what I like to call exploration re-entry points. I had one for empire and one for federation. Kanuket has 3 stations within 18ls of the primary, and Tauerni with Rushworth Port just 10ls away.
