Explorers... take time to smell the roses, so to speak...

Since jumping through the 5000ly hoop to get to Palin, I've been inspired to go further and purchased another-nother account just to explore... God help me.

So being a new explorer, it's pretty much been jump, honk, scoop, jump... but on the way to the Trifid Nebula, I noticed that if I wait about 45 seconds or so after passing the sun, things start to get a lot more visible, especially when approaching a nebula or the like... pretty awesome. [up]

Anyway... my point to my fellow newbie explorers... take time to see the sights. ;)

When the new planet overhaul arrives, i'll be back in the dark, but after 2 times to sag A and many more to colonia i really looking forward to the improvements to the planets...barely remember the time before the brown plague arrived.

Welcome in the dark, dude!

Good point...also, one does not need an "eleventy" million light year jump range ship to explore. You can miss a lot of systems. Don't get me wrong that engineered Aspx, DBX or Conda comes in handy when you need to FedEX yourself across the galaxy for an event or mission, but just exploring doesn't need all that...if your stopping to smell the roses. IMO.

It seems "incredibly boring" at first, but when you get used to it, it just becomes "kind of boring". Finding an interesting system, Earthlike, or water world is "kind of exciting but still kind of boring". I should know. I'm currently a couple days away from Sag A. Faceplanting a black hole, netron star, or red dwarf, or nearly running out of fuel though, is always exciting.

You miss a lot ff all you do is jump and honk instead of flying out past the glare of the star. Lot's of little planetary nebulae and the like. Interesting little vistas from the surface of moons involving ringed planets. Most of my best screenshots were done when I was doing something else and just happened to stumble into a good shot.
