Allitnil has a good point, and let's not forget that the ones who are more likely to use EDSM (or any program that uses it) are explorers anyway. I strongly doubt that the majority of the player base would be explorers, either part- or full-time.
As for the OP: thanks, but no thanks. Stirring up the pot? I don't think that would accomplish much, save for antagonising some people (not to mention reactions like "omg why are u explorers cryin when crime system is , PP is borken, combat logging etc") and frankly, I don't think you could get enough people on-board to actually disrupt things. I think you underestimate the activity required to do that to major hubs, and elsewhere, nobody would notice. More importantly, attacking other people's interests isn't productive when you want something from FD.
Also, I could echo pretty much everything that newman said in his post above.
Finally, I would wait until the 2.3 beta at least so we can see what changes and new things the update would bring for explorers. If barely any, then the complaining might start. But if it'll actually have a good number of related stuff, then complaining beforehand wouldn't look too good.
