Oh wow. This is a blow to exploration. If anything, it's really the only profession in the game that enables a player to leave his/her mark in the galaxy.

I was thinking about returning back as I had made a nice discovery but will just meander away again until a fix in announced.
When they give us warning of a fix, I can just imagine the huge queues to try to get back in a hurry in order to sell all the first discoveries.

Good find, even if I don't feel the sense of urgency. I've never cared about my name on the system map though, so I wouldn't understand.

2 weeks to go on the Lembava CG and it's already above tier 5. I was thinking of coming back in sooner to the civilisation bubble to sell my data but now I'm reluctant until this is fixed. This is bad news for exploration. I hope FD have got adequate backups and recovery procedures of all the 'first discovered' tags.

I've just come back with maybe 750,000 credits of data and I'm waiting on news of a fix, is it worth going to Lemava to sell it? I'm not up to speed on what the community goal is.

Go to Goldstein Port in Lembava and check the bulletin board. Enlist in the community goal before selling your data. Even if you only get in the top 100% you'll get an extra 150,000 credits when the CG is over. That 150,000 credits will be a much higher figure when the CG ends in about 2 weeks as it's only at tier 5 at the moment. The way things are going the goal will probably get to tier 10 well before the end date. CG's close early when they reach the highest tier.
Hold off on selling the data though until this bug is fixed.
