Exploring - how do I know where I've explored?

Hi,

I've just arrived at a nice nebular with lots of stars.

I've scanned a few systems, but theres loads very closely together.

How can I tell if I've already scanned the stars in a system with out jumping to it?

Cheers.

If you've already scanned then on the GalMap you should have the "open system map" icon available, so it's that you've already been here

If you look at the Galaxy map, when you select or hover the cursor over a star, a little popup flag appears with the star name, some basic details, and several icons. The icon that looks like a little sun with planets orbiting it is the System Map button. This button is red for Unexplored systems and white for Explored systems. Since there are no systems for which the default status is Explored beyond 500 LY from Sol, every star out there with a white System Map button has been explored by you.

Sorry, but this is the only in-game tool to allow you to see this. An option to show Explored/Unexplored stars more clearly on the starmap was discussed back in the development stage as a desired feature, but is yet to be implemented.

It'd be nice if they at least added a filter option so you can simply display explored systems on the galaxy map.

Yes it would. What's the point of exploring new systems if nobody knows they've been explored? Also, it would keep you from going to a system and finding it's already been explored.

I meant a filter only showing what you've explored. Naturally that'd apply to systems in the bubble that you get info for by defaul, but wouldn't apply to systems others have explored, but you haven't. Taking screenshots of the Gal map works.... until your hard drive dies.

If you do backups, it won't matter if the harddrive dies. If you don't it's your own fault.

Needing to do screenshots for logging explored systems is still not a good solution.

I have a notepad and a logbook. An actual book. I use the notepad to jot down rough data on systems I scan that I think are interesting and then I enter it in the book in a way that's easy to reference. The book is for reference, the notepad for recording.

I think even when FD puts bookmarks and stuff in my book will be easier to use. Also I can take a photo of the pages and send it to friends if I want.
