Exploring how safe not to dock when in the wilds :)

so, have pimped out my adder to a decent degree and almost ready to head to the far away reaches of the universe. But a quick question - how safe are you to log out of game not docked in the wilds so to speak. Also presumably should jump out of supercruise before doing it?

Ta for advice.

I've just done exactly that, in a similar ship for similar reasons :)

Put the brakes on, out of Supercruise, make sure the brakes really ARE on, and relax.

Mind you, I was just making some final notes from the galaxy map before quitting, and when I closed the map I had just been scanned!

All that remained was the FSD wake, so who it was I don't know, but he wasn't around when I carefully made my mooring-up sensor check...

If you're paranoid, drop into normal space, turn FA off, boost and kill thrusters. Wait a minute to make sure no one followed you and quit the game.

Done it dozens of times. It would be pretty hard on deep space explorers otherwise -- some of them haven't seen a station in several dozen, perhaps even hundreds of jumps!

Once you've logged out, your ship isn't "there" anymore, not for NSCs and not for other players.

Just give astronomic bodies somewhat of a berth. I'm not quite sure on the orbital dynamics. Better play it safe than logging in and finding you in the "hot" range of the local sun.

It's a regular habit of mine whilst exploring. If I'm near civilisation I like to moor up at a station or outpost.

And when you log off, *Poof!* your ship (luckily for you) vanishes, unlike, say Rust, where your (oft) naked body lies down to sleep, and is vulnerable to being murdered while you are away in real life!
