I need to confirm this, but just turned in a load of data for the CG, and with the new progress bars my trade rank went 1% as well as the 8% increase to my explorer rank.
It makes sense i suppose as Data is a commodity. I'll check again next time i dock but if it is increasing as well it's a small win for explorers.
If anyone else is turning in data worth keeping an eye on it.
