Exploring is really hard on the paint!

Hi guys

got back from my first SAG A run yesterday, by far the furthest i have been so far and i really enjoyed it. I was out for about 3 weeks in total which is small fry i know but baby steps...

i was surprised at just how hard it is on the paint though...... my god

I kinda like it to be honest and its not like paint costs much, i did notice that the ship kit parts do seem worse then the main structure

I love the degraded paint. It shows up well on ships with a white hull; this is my Courier docked at Jaques after a month's travelling

Definitely cool that paint wears, but it also kinda makes you wary of going to long range trips if you want epic screenshots. What if I wanna go to Sag A* with pristine paint for some epic 4k screenshots with the new camera coming in the patch?

Clean your ship at Jaques and don't spend too long in supercruise

They need to re-engineer all ships with the new ship kit materials that stuff is bloody indestructible!! Not a scratch!

Gotta say - that was my reason not to buy the Asp ship kit.

Also what I really wanted was to get a respray on the decals with the beat up skin.
Some ships I keep tidy, and I do have ship kits, but the Asp is like a hard used pair of work boots.

They've fixed them in 2.3. Mine looked correct with even wear on the 0% paint anyway!

Dunno how to link pics to here, but I had an asp out with no paint that looked exactly like that, then went and bought paints, and it still looks like that. I actually dont like it...I like a bit of degradation, but not the completely scabby look and feel it gets over time. I do a lotta scanning, so thats a lotta time in sc.

I was in the bubble last week...paint was scratched within an hour even though the hull is still at 100% a week later...now can barely tell what pattern the paint was. Some degradation is fine...adds some immersion, though I hate using that word. I feel its a bit over zealous though...just my own opinion ^

Here's my Cobra's Black Friday paint after 1 trip to Hutton. When I got back from that, I had a Keelback, so I flew it around, and had my Cobra transfered to wherever it was I wound up. I thought the 'couriers' were rough on my ship! LoL! Took me a while to figure out what had actually caused it.

The decals, clearly, need to be engraved into the ship. Or they need to be metals decals that are welded on and stick out a bit...

Z...

Repair all doesn't repair your paint, as paint wear and tear is a source of pride :)

You have to do that one manually

I get worried about my paint, when I go into combat, as I don't want to rebuy a new ship with fresh paint :p
