Newcomer / Intro Exploring - Level 2 & 3 scans. What am I missing?

Hello,

I've just seen in the new patch notes they have fixed cmdr stats for level 2 and 3 scans so that they now show the data.

I've visited 1809 systems
1120 level 2 scans
0 level 3 scans.

I'm a bit confused. How do we do these level 3 scans? I currently jump into a system, hit the Advanced Discovery scan button ( to reveal all bodies in the system) then I target an 'unexplored' body and fly towards it until the detailed scanner pings automatically when close enough, revealing new data on it. How do I get a level 3 scan done? and does it provide additional data?

From what I've read level 3 scans are supposed to be scans that were done with a Detailed Surface Scanner equipped.

What you're missing is that it is Bugged.

you need both the advanced scanner and the detailed scanner fitted and your get lvl 3 scans now i've got 389 listed now after the bug was fixed

lvl3.JPG you've got a bug or your not doing it right , or your smoking the wrong stuff ;)
as i pointed out if you don't use both of the scanners your not get lvl 3 scan's

Unfortunately the fabled Level 2 and Level 3 scans didn't involve anything new. Level 1, which is not listed, is a basic ping. Level 2 is a close scan, and Level 3, is a close scan with a detailed surface scanner.

The number of systems visited tics up with, well, every system you visit. But the Lvl 2 and Lvl 3 numbers must not pop up until after you sell your cartographic data.

So basically nothing has changed, we just get to see some numbers that were always there. I was hoping Level 2 was like a close pass to sample an atmosphere, and Level 3 was landing/surface sampling. Alas not.
