exploring space

is it just me ?
I've now been exploring over 1000 systems and still I have only come across stars, planets, black holes, and asteroids. not a single contact of any description in an anarchy system. Is there nothing out there like comets, rouge planets etc. exploring is not very exiting,or interesting. # tedious . :(
life in some systems would be a good add. even friendly/deadly species, intelligent life etc.. :)

Yeah, there is a lot of talk about Thargoid aliens which were in past Elite games and possibly to be introduced shortly in the future.
Exploring is only for certain types of people though, I personally find it quite relaxing and a good way to catch up on a ton of podcasts on a second monitor but I can understand why some people find it boring. Yes exploring could do with more interesting objects, but the problem at the moment is that explorers risk days/weeks/months of work when they encounter enemies whereas everyone else only risks a few hours so anything that can be deadly would be devastating.

Check out some of the people in the Exploration sub-forum, they may have some suggestions of how to make it more interesting. Also a perfect example of the above a chap just lost 4 months worth of progress for going afk for 10 minutes...

I think of it as the galaxy actually is... Not overly interested in 'remnants of alien civilizations', dancing girls or burger joints...

I get out there and find I should have stripped down my ship to make it jump further,29ly at the mo. I've not needed weapons, armour or defensive measures at all. I'd imagine that in real space, there is life and a lot more going on out there than the four things I've mentioned. more items to find/stuff to explore problems to solve. with out mentioning the series concerning space exploration. exploration should be heading in that direction:D

Nope. It seems strange that the latest CG could detect a destroyed starship with the ADS, but we cant. I would love to come across a wreck or two to scan, planets in collision, comets, geysers spouting form planets etc, but no. As beautiful as it is my wow moments while exploring are getting less and less.
