Exploring Systems without Basic Discovery Scanner

I've just gone to Istanu to help with the piracy problem. My Viper is kitted out for combat, but also so it can jump systems relatively easily to pick out hotspots.

The problem is, because I got rid of my Basic Discovery Scanner I no longer get the system view. This means that, even though I dock, I don't even get a basic view of the systems commodities (not necessary in this case) but also the security state of the system, population etc and other bits of information. I accept that I'm flying blind as regards planets, asteroids etc but being able to use the system view for the basic info (especially after docking) would certainly help.

I can pick up ruling factions etc in the status tab but would be nice to have at least a cursory view of the system map and it's various bits of info not contained in the factions tab.

Edit: This also appiles to the various bits of information you pick up about starports in the system (ie: what they provide, their allegiance etc...)

Didn't try from a neighbouring system, it wasn't availabe either way. When I landed at the station in the system it didn't give me the option and said I had the commodities data but had no way of viewing it in the galaxy map.
