Horizons Explosive Geo samples?

Amazing what you sometimes find in your home system.
Either the system is dangerous, or geological samples are explosive.

I found my mission target and picked up 4 Geo Samples. The other wreck was nearby, so I picked up 4 more samples.
4 + 4 + 8. Right? Noooo ...
Got back to delivery port and I only had 4. maybe the others were explosive. better check my cargo hold for burn marks.

I believe it is like this to stop people stacking the same mission? But i did not think it was meant to work like that?
1. Hand in one mission then go back for the other.
2. I am sure i have done 2 at once by going back into supercruise first?
