Just got into 1.2 and started my general trade route when I remembered the new camera, so I slowed to a stop and hit CTRL+ALT+Space...annnnnnnnd nothing happens? Am I missing something?
External cam broken??

You need to set up a keybind for it in Options. There isn't one by default, although they used Ctrl-Alt-Space in Beta.
