External Displays Possible? Pi, IOS, etc

HI, So in simple terms, I just bought the Obutto Rev and want to use one of my trays for an external "display" and what I mean is I would LOVE to see the "X number of jumps to destination" or just something fun on these displays. I heard "edproxy" could work but honestly I have no idea "how" that works and what hardware, software is needed. So I was wondering if any one had any other situations like I described and did some cool, fun stuff? Thanks

You could Probly write something that scrapes from the commander log thingy and then produces something from it and displays it on a screen.

Anyone have any options? I don't want to (and cannot) re-invent the wheel, I know I have seen this before. Maybe I need an android OS (or VM) and run pathfinder?
