External / Extended Docking Clamps on Outposts, Megaships and so on.

Why can't we have fun external, or rather extended, docking clamps where we do more traditional style space-age docking.

I for one am glad that landing pads aren't 3km long and require you to follow a 15km approach corridor.
Having external docks will most likely come with bigger pilotable ships like the panther clipper or imperial explorer,
though cutter/conda or corvette could warrant the necessity of such external docks, since they're close to 200m in length

Extended docking clamps would allow for more larger ships to dock too. Currently on the Rescue Ship there is only 1 large pad for instance. Generates a lot of waiting when multiple people, either in Open play or in a Wing in private play, are trying to offload 10-12 passenger missions at a time, plus sell commodities, free up data and material storage to be able to Claim the missions and so on.

Not to mention... it looks way cooler than landing pads.

I like the idea, it doesn't need to have all station access. Just enough to refuel and dropped off passengers

It would look cool a set of claps grabbing the ship.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. No outfitting or major stuff. Just loading on and off passengers and refuelling. Perfect for refugee missions or passenger runs... or if you just want to hook on, refuel, and be on your way.
