External "Most Wanted" website.

I am sure this may have been asked before ?....
Are ED going to get upset if someone (maybe me) brings up a "Most Wanted Website" to allow people to post player bounties.
Am sure there are plenty of traders out there who would like to wreak some revenge - and maybe some pirates would like the "fame factor"

If it is set up externally they cant theoretically or legally do anything. As long as you are not infringing any copyright, NDA or trademark.

Was more thinking.. Not in this forum.. but if they have a general policy on "no naming and shaming ANYWHERE" thats fair enough.

You can do that, but I'm 99% sure you cannot link to the website, even obtusely, on these forums. Naming of other CMDRs in any sort of negative context is a breach of the forum rules (naming and shaming)

I dont think they can legally. Okay I understand on the forums as its theirs. But if you set up a web site with names on I dont think they can stop you.

Anywhere in the world?! I don't think they can enforce that. Maybe block your sig if you link to it but that's about all they can do. Make it easy to deduce if you can't post/display a direct link, scottworld.wordpress.com or something...

The naming and shaming forum rule applies to the forum.

Links are .... a difficult subject to get right.
Generally speaking no CMDR names or direct links to material such as a video/screenshot saying "this CMDR griefed me" will be allowed on the forum.

Lol.... I was just gauging the idea... (I dont have a website yet), was thinking you may have to "opt in" before you can be named. Rather than people posting vindictive bounties - just to get people killed.

I was thinking of doing something similar on my radio station, but that seems unlikely now.
Is this why we no longer have most wanted lists?
I can understand why naming wanted commanders could be seen as bullying or picking on someone. But I would love to see wild west style Wanted posters and announcements though.

It's a good idea

Give it a memorable name, " Most Wanted" is on the right track and it will likely take hold

manage it properly as a bounty hunterstool and not as a revenge site so it's is recognised as having integrity, that wanted commanders actually did something other than bumping on route into a station

Yeah thats where my thoughts were, would be quite a good community fun thing.
Of course.. all the problems with "griefing" via posting wanteds on people just to annoy them etc would have to be sorted.
Was sketching out what it might look like, but with the "trading tools" and "rare goods websites" I was wondering if this gap was worth filling.

I have also noticed... that someone has registered the domain name.. eitemostwanted.com (so someone has been thinking about it)

I agree, i thought it was quite cool that, if you were a pirate racking big money in, that people could then see you were a good bounty to go after and then fight...
To be honest, if I was a pirate worth over 1,000,000Cr, i wouldn't be mad, or feel bullied if my name was posted anywhere, its an accomplishment! ;)

Was thinking about.. the "hunting process" as well... have something like a "last spotted in" that the community could update to try and track them down.
Of course the pirate themselves could update this, to throw people off the track, but thats the same as hoax calls to the police I guess.

The forum rules appear to be geared more towards the grief and moan sector of PvP. Some commanders are proud of their wanted status and the tally they've accumulated.

As Ian Philips insinuates as long as it is just a link then I can't see the problem. Personally I'd like a bit of banter between pilots about being killed/killing etc... this artificial, sterilised "happy happy" place is like a lobotomised conversation.

Thoughts.

A cmdr has to be reported a certain number of times before they appear on the list
Ability to add last seen
Max submissions per day for reporting
Email verification of submissions
A reported commander could have multiple separate bounties against them
Confirmation by screenshot, then emailed to the posters of the bounties.
Bounty payments - ability to report paid / non payment stored against reporting cmdr names

Definitely doable :)
