Default is ctrl+alt+space isn't it?
Its under the general controls button under the camera settings.
If you look in the controls section you'll find the key binding menus for general, ship, SRV and on foot. The specific controls for the external camera for each mode (it's not one button for ship, SRV and on foot, you have to set them separately) will be probably be in the miscellaneous drop-down, although don't quote me on that.
Can't give you exact instructions as to what button it is as I changed all my key bindings.
But it wasn’t the default until some time after Odyssey.Yup, three separate options, in general controls - Camera section, but you can set them all to be the same, which i think is the default.

Thanks all - under General Controls there are three options Camera suite/Free Camera/Store Camera. Which one do I need to set? There are no key bindings assigned to anyone of them?

But it is now, and that's what matters.
Camera suite. First 3 options should be the 3 camera keybinds. If there is nothing assigned to them, or you want to change them, set them to whatever you want.
Suite is what gets you into and out of the camera.
Free Camera is for flying the camera around and things like focus, zoom and depth of field.
Store is the controls for changing the view of items in the livery store and holo me.
So you need to set the first one but there is not much point in not setting up everything though it is a faff.
Thanks - key bindings were empty in there, I have now set it to ctrl+alt+alt gr for all 3 of them (Ship/SRV/On foot).

A word if warning it is a camera system for taking pictures or movies not a third person view as in old games. I believe some people have worked out ways to do that but while in the camera you have little or no feedback from your ship. Now that I have set keys to get into third person view - How do I move the camera around? Because once I press ctrl+alt+alt Gr - I get an exterior view, but the view is locked. I cannot seem to move the camera around, Same thing can be said when on foot.

You can bind keys to 3 external (behind looking forward, beneath looking forward and in front looking towards the cockpit) and 4 or 5 internal camera views. I forget which section they are in.
In the free camera section you can bind an option to detach the camera from the ship as well as many binds for controls to move and turn it every which way.
You really ought to go into each section, select each item read what if any hints show up then bind the ones you want.
If you do searches looking 4 or 5 years or so ago when the new cameras came in there were some very detailed tutorials and you tubes done.
Go through all the key bindings and set them to what you want. There is a binding to switch between fixed and free view as well as others for adjusting the position of the camera and some preset positions.
