External View / Paint Job Debate Again

The debug mode cameras are pretty useless and slow.

Growing up flying all sorts of flight sims almost every game had some sort of external view to rotate around your ship, a flypast etc.

I understand the competitive nature of the game online and that it could possibly give an edge to someone.

This is my solution.

Allow external views for all of us who like to admire your work in the galaxy - for ONLY those who play SOLO. Most of us want to screen shot and possibly do more cataloging of our adventures online but are limited to still shots for the most part.

Part of this is that you have plenty of nice looking paint jobs. But myself I have no desire to purchase any of them because really the external view system is slow and clunky and what is the point of buying a paint job if you can't really admire it?

There's a far better, easier, solution.

* Get rid of the debug-view, it's clunky and quite rightly has earned the title "Debug View".
* Implement a proper camera you can easily rotate around.
* Disable flight controls when in this view.

Pretty much what we have now, but without the crappy controls :)

Yeah, if the debug camera could for example as default start somewhere behind/above your ship, and not where it is now... Also when you cruise around in SC, flying behind your ship WITH flight controls might be nice? In SC I dont see a big problem with that (actually not even in normal space...).

Or maybe a nice animation from external view when you dock at a station? Or when you use the docking computer?

I want something from this list, its so sad that I almost never see my ships from the outside, I just dont get a feeling for the different ships, since all the consoles etc are so similar, and in a Python it doesnt feel that much bigger than in a Cobra...
