[Extras request] 3D Models of ships (3DS, LWO, Blender, etc)

I was wondering if it would be possible to add some more extras to the webapp (not sure if there is a better forum for this); but I would like to get hi quality 3D models of the in game ships for use in something like Blender to make fan movies etc.
You could charge £5 per model pack (Static, Rigged Weapons and Cut away damage models).

Given you'll likely produce these anyway during development there's little extra work beyond packaging I'd guess.

Thoughts?

thus enabling 3D printing and biting into their marketing model?

+£500* Have a physical 3D model of a Cobra Mk III to scale (approx. 15cm)
+£700* Have a physical 3D model of an Anaconda to scale (approx. 35 cm)
+£400* Have a physical 3D model of a Viper Mk II to scale (approx. 10 cm)
+£700* Have a physical 3D model of a partial cut-away (revealing the interior) of a Cobra Mk III to scale (approx. 15cm)
+£950* Have a physical 3D model of a partial cut-away (revealing the interior) of an Anaconda to scale (approx. 35cm)

I would guess if you wanted to make fan films you'd need to wait for the game to come out and use that.

it's not the printing that gives them value, it's the paint job but I do see your point. once the first pack is sold they would have no control over it's use and it could easily become the template for a makerbot production run

I think this would be great.
It also keeps the quality of the models in sync with the game. It is painful to see poor quality models of spacecraft like Tie fighters and X-Wings. If a business wants to exploit any mechanising, then there is little Frontier can do to stop that happening and it would happen with low quality self made 3d models.

Any movies depicting the ED universe promotes the game and if it includes the official models then all the better.
As happens with most music videos on YouTube; a part of the proceeds can be paid to Frontier.
