Extraterrestrial Constellations

People have been exploring to seek out the concrete wonders of our Galaxy, but has anyone been looking at the more creative side? Have some fun naming this one, and post your own!

This sounds like a great idea

I thought yours looked a bit like a lighthouse and an incoming wave. What system is it from?

Makes me think of a snake.

Do the constellations look right from Sol?

Haven't checked, but considering they use as accurate data as they can (at least what comes to distances and generic things like that), I'd assume so - Sol tho from my current whereabouts is far, far away, so can't go verify anytime soon.

It's from HIP 51131, and V518 Carinae is in the upper-left corner. I thought it looked like a fisherman, casting his line.

Ratlan, yours looks like someone proudly holding a sword up to the Sun. So I call it: Victory.

When I look at Jhyrs I see the Calvin peeing window sticker, I wish I had the photoshop skills to try and superimpose the image to see how close it is.

Cool thread. I've noticed a few in some systems that made me think "oh I bet that would be a famous constellation in this system".

Ooh I hadn't even though to figure out which stars those were. I think I'm still in the system (I think I've lost about five hours of exploring to sitting in the galaxy map), so I will find out.

To be fair, that group of stars has been my destination since they were barely visible from Lave. I took screencaps in every system during the approach, and plan to string them together in a gif to see what it looks like. :)

I noticed something similar on my way to Epsilon Columbae. There was a group of about five bright stars near each other for about five or six systems. I didn't 'cap it because... dunno, just didn't think it was a good constellation.

So if a system has nothing interesting in it, but does have a really cool constellation... is that a constellation prize?
