Extremely low sound

Good afternoon

I reinstalled the game after a while, since I finally got a working HOTAS set up again.
However, I noticed that the sound is, overall, unbelievably low, even if I max out the sliders in settings.
This also happens whether I choose the standard mode, Boost, or the Full Range settings.

While I notice this on some games, it's never as bad as with Elite, and I'd say 95% of the games from Steam work flawlessly sound-wise.

Are there any steps I can take to solve this?

My audio drivers are Realtek, and they're as up to date as possible: 6.0.1.7960
My Nvidia card is also up to date: GeForce GTX 1060
Running Windows 10, also up to date: 10.0.19043

I made sure I turned off the auto adjust option on my speakers, so that's not an issue either.

Any help is appreciated.

About the audio option "optimise for", it reduces the difference between the quietest sound and the loudest sound :
  1. Full range
  2. Normal Range
  3. Boost
  4. NightTime
Have you checked windows volume mixer after starting the game ? One of the volume mixer's sliders could be lowered ?

Alas, I checked the mixer and everything is fine. Oddly enough, it only happen without headphones, if I plug them in, it has normal sound...
