Hardware & Technical EyeInfinity, 3 27" monitors with DYI IR head tracking and voice attack

Anyone have a similar setup? It looks and works kick ass with the combat demo however I'm only getting 20-25 FPS with the graphics maxed out with my Overclocked Radeon HD 7850.. (5040x1050) I just purchased a Radeon R9 290 tonight which will hopefully double my frames.. My son needed a new video card anyway so he will inherit the old one..

What I like about this setup is that I don't have to turn my head to the side very much since the cockpit and side windows wrap most of the way around you on either side. You can use your peripheral vision or simply move your eyes to see beside you.

Turning shadows from high to medium gained me about 15 fps in asteroids, up from 40 to a good 55-60. 7850 also and I'm also using Eyefinity (not at 55 fps obviously) but it's a bit hard on the old card yep.

I can't really use Voice Attack as I'm making video a lot, but I tried it out to start with, was pretty cool. I'm looking at some kind of head tracking but not sure yet.

Hey OP.

I'm running an i7, 16gb RAM and GTX670(2GB) at 4900(ish)x900 across 3x23" units with a TrackIr5 and some seriously expensive monitor stands!

Everything runs smooth as silk for me...

Wrong game, but you get the point :)

So you are getting that 40 -55 fps with your 7850 running eyeinfinity in ED? I too have an I7 cpu and couldn't get near that high with everything on medium let alone having most stuff on high.

No I meant (not at 55fps on Eyefinity). Eyefinity on max gets me about 17-20 fps in asteroids with my 7850. I get 55fps+ in asteroids on normal 1080p max settings with the card.

If I drop down to a mix of low and medium settings I can normally maintain 30+ fps with the 7850, on eyefinity. Shadows are a killer, gotta drop them way down.

Just tested out them all, doing the canister training mission I get...

18-25 fps on High (mostly 22)
30-38 fps on medium (mostly 30)
50-60 fps on low (52 looking towards the planet, 60 looking out at the asteroids only)

That's at 5280x1000 resolution with a 7850 1GB OC and i5 3570.

You can probably get a decent 50-60fps constantly on low, perhaps with high textures on. There isn't that much of a discernible difference in image quality apart from that.
