F.A.O. Devs. I dream of a more immersive ED

First off, I love this game!

That said. I really hope that the current bare bones get some meat on them soon.

Some suggestions (no doubt they have all been suggested before):

- The missions have got to be greatly enhanced and evolved from the rinse and repeat generic bring this, steal that, kill X. There needs to be more complexity, many missions should involve party's of players. There should also be mission chains where there are rewards that impact play - such as special ship parts (or even just named parts/bling/logos) might be acquired. I know this has got to be hard due to the numbers of star systems and petty factions. There has to be a way though, because currently its boring. Most boring games don't get played. The fact that ED is beautiful and you can explore will pad this somewhat, but ultimately it will not enough.

- Reputation needs to mean more and be worth more to the player. Special favors, cheaper goods, passes to move contraband, hiring of AI wingmen, unique ship logos, enhanced ship parts . . . otherwise why bother helping out anywhere when not having a good rep makes no difference unless you are hostile and they start shooting you on sight.

- More information on the parts that we buy for our ships is needed. It is not immediately clear why one part is better than another. The system is too esoteric. I still look up other sites to work out whats best for my ships. This should not be necessary and making it more obvious would help new players.

- There needs to be missions to explore distant areas of space (prospecting for corporations) and return with the data to make exploring more interesting - these could be opposed by other factions who try to stop the data gathering.

- we should be able to make personal notes on the galaxy map.

- we should be able to access current trade data while sitting outside the no-fire zone of a station so we don't have to dock to look at the prices.

- Anarchy systems should be very dangerous! As in an interdiction ought to happen at least once on the way from a star to a station, sometimes with with multiple assailants. Currently anarchy systems seem just like any other system.

- Player built and run stations is a must. This would allow expansion in to deeper space and give players a great deal more to play for.

- Power Play is disappointing. Its too basic and the missions are rinse and repeat. Frontier, you need to find a way to move away from grinding! Inject some serious Industrial espionage. Specific interception / assassination missions etc. No doubt you have all the ideas you need. Please implement them or at least tell us you are going to.

- Also . . where are the aliens that want to take our space or are just plain xenophobic? Need some ancient Alien evil to thwart lots. Thargoids please! And others. And old ruined civilizations to find and plunder.

Honors to your creativity!

I'd agree with pretty much all of your post, and pretty much all of it was discussed in Alpha and Beta... but...
.
You then almost ruined it with "Player built and run stations is a must." No. No. No. No. No... but... "This would allow expansion in to deeper space and give players a great deal more to play for."
.
Not player owned stations per se, but the idea of inflatable bases on asteroids, set up for explorers as way stations was also an idea brought up by DBOBE himself. Shame the exploration horse has long since got out the stable and bolted across the galaxy.

:) I suspected it had all be said before. I would have liked to have paid more attention and participated more in alpha and beta.

Inflatable bases on asteroids would be good too. Really anything that would allow players to expand inhabited space and stimulate player interaction. Not that there isn't enough space already.

ICK...Immersion...there ya go, making me kill another baby seal.

Anywho, good suggestions. I'm still waiting for that Asteroid base from the cover of Michael's book, Elite:Legacy. Want that so much.
