I love F1 and have done since the days of Jochen Rindt and I've bought every codemasters (ironic name) F1 game except F1 2015 but only because it had no career mode.
But I'll giving F1 2018 a hard pass because of one thing, the halo. I drive only in cockpit mode and I don't want that thing in my face, I know you can turn off the central column but even so that's a no for me. As much as I think the real thing is hideous I understand it in the real F1, but in a video game, they should have made an option to totally hide it and for that reason I'll stick to F1 2017 (which is sad as the new career mode updates look great!)

I too love F1, have followed it for decades. I also love to play Codemaster games. From TOCA to Grid, rallying and many others. However: I have never got on with the F1 games; basically, because I am always taking the wheels off of my own car. I guess I must be more of a contact sport, kind of race driver.
lol - simulation is simulation - other than that its a game. Maybe you crash a lot..hmmmm..

Haha! I remember, think it was F1 1998 on PS2. There was a glitch where if you lost the front wings the maneuverability went crazy good.
Me and my bro always placed ourselves behind someone in poleposition; ramming speed and voila: Cartoon-slalomed our way to victory...

I rarely crash tbh, maybe once a season? but that's probably because the AI don't really push you and almost never go for a pass once you are leading.

I have an amusing tale about this game lol
My mate is a fanatical F1 fan and got this in the mail this morning, this afternoon he was contacting simplygames about a refund lol
The amusing bit?
It's not that he hates the game, he said he's not even played it yet but once you load it for the first time you have an EULA and a choice of accept or decline, he saw something in it that he wouldn't agree with and clicked decline which put him back to the menu. It seems (unlike some games) you cannot deline the EULA and still play, so he's trying to get a refund.
although I said he doens't have much chance since the wrapping is off the box, but like he said how could I see the eula without putting the disc in? lol
Edit: I asked him what the bit he didn't agree with was, he said it was the part about them logging your play, how you play, how long you play, what selections you make in the game etc etc. :S
