F1 Manager 2022 - Fantastic Game, just a couple of bugs to report

Hi Guys

Long time Elite player here from the original in 1984! When I heard that there was an F1 Manager game coming and Frontier were doing it I told everyone who would listen that it would be great. You haven't disappointed, its a great game already and with updates and patches it can be sensational.

Will there be a dedicated Forum for it? I know technically its not released yet with everyone on early access.

There is one major bug for me which when fixed will make the game twice as good, actually 2 bugs but linked.

1. In Quali the way the drivers get out the way when someone is on a quick lap isn't realistic and holds the quick lap driver up way too much. They will already be out of the way on a straight but then will dive across the road and get in the way anyway. The biggest issue though is they will move out of the way on a straight but won't slow down, so sometimes they still get to the corner before your driver.

2. Again in Quali the way the the teams send there drivers out isn't realistic at the moment, I just did Q1 in Bahrain and with 5 mins left there were 7 drivers who hadn't even been out yet.

The game is amazing though, I can see me spending as long playing this as I have Elite Dangerous, not sure how to play them both at the same time :)

How about an F1 Championship being added to Elite Dangerous as a news item :)

wow, you seen this but didn't see that the tyre system is totally broken
that there are no difference between compound
that there are no degratation on the tyre in the laptime
but yeah, just a couple of bugs.
sorry if i broke your game

I've just had a race where I had a different strategy where Vettel ended up on fresh softs up against drivers on wearing hard tyres. Vettel was overtaking drivers in way better cars due to the tyres. I didn't mean there were just two bugs, I think it should be clear enough that I meant I was reporting two bugs!
But I can tell you are a "This game is unplayable" kind of a guy, regardless of the game. They are all unplayable when actually its a bug that will be fixed.

The game is great, just as an aside, have you reported the bugs you found?

I'd already used the tracker, one was already logged and I logged the other. Would be nice if these Forums weren't filled with people trying to be moderators. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a game forum somewhere where the users actually helped each other!!!

but help about what?
do you understand that every decision you make during the race doesn't nothing?
you choose the medium or the soft or the hard, and there is no difference
you use a fresh soft cause AI has 50% hard... and there is no difference
is it clear this?
how can someone help you if there is any sense in the strategies and give any tips about it?

I know how to find the issues tracker, having played ED for some time, but I found no mention that "the tyre system is totally broken"?
It is. Comically so. You can find on reddit plenty of measurements to show just how broken it is, and FD acknowledged it, but in short:
1) Fresh hards are about 0.3S slower than fresh softs. That difference should be 700% more. It means the difference in tires is completely overruled by DRS. It also means undercuts don't work and soft tires have no purpose.
2) Wet tires are better in rain that slicks, but not really the opposite. So when the track dries and you grab slics, as you're supposed to do, you don't actually go faster than cars driving on wets. As an illustration, you can comfortably get to Q3 with a top-tier team in the first race, Bahrein, by using wet tires in the blazing sun. This should give you a solid last place, about 10s behind even Latifi/Albon no matter your car.
3) Tire deg largely doesnt matter, until you get to 30%. In other words, two identical cars with one on 31% hard tires and the other on fresh softs, will be largely the same speed and completely the same when DRS is active. So the winning strat in a race is always a one-stopper, with one hard and one medium, because there is virtually no delta and tire deg largely is irrelevant.
4) Heat barely matters. You can literally set the driver to full attack every single lap and it is fine. In fact, here is how you build the fastest strat: 1) pick the fastest recommended 1-stop strategy, 2) tell the drivers to do that "but faster". That is it. The view even tells you how much superior your new strategy is. Literally just saying "do the same as everyone, but faster" is the secret winning tactic here. It is just clownesque.

This is the very basics of an F1 manager: how many sets, which, when and how to manage them during stints. All of it is broken. Of course, there is also no AI, just a basic script pre-determined at the start of the race, so if the tires are fixed we'll get a whole different, and equally game-breaking problem: if the computer doesn't ever respond to anything you do, anyone with half an understanding of F1 will always beat the direct competition with zero effort required.

This game is a mess.

Isn't how the games usually work?
Game designer designs a challenge... people find out the steps needed to win that challenge and make an YT movie about it.

Then everyone else follows the guide while complaining about Grind.
Oh! Wait! that's from another FDev game...

Except that these guides typically have multiple steps. :p FWIW: another issue is posted, it seems that AI teams can change engines but that has zero impact on their relative positions either.

This game is not even close to being in beta.
