Hi everybody!
I would like to give a little feedback on the new F1 Manager 2022 after playing with the early access.
Im 31 years old, long time F1 fan and also a gamer. I have played a lot of manager games and my favorite is by far the Motorsport Manager. I played that hundreds of hours, so when i seen the news about the F1 licenced game i got really excited and I eagerly waited the release date. Now that i got my hand on it and tested for a bit i have a few feedback that im hoping will reach the right places. I think a lot of the bugs and things i listed below are already known and maybe in develpoment or will be patched day1. Im just putting it out here because i really like the game and would love to see it become successful.
Im sure the dev team researched the competition but my suggestion would be to take a look at the Motorsport Manager, especially in the Fire 21 mod, not to copy it but to get some ideas. That is the best mod the community have, and it has amazing ideas and solutions for a game like this, with years of developing and testing behind it.
#1 Difficulty setting
-This is the main problem for a person like me, with a bit of experience. In my first career save i started with Red Bull and i have won everything with ease. It was so easy that after the first development phase even without pushing i almost lapped everybody else on the track, even the Ferraris (pic below). Its just too easy its not even fun.
#2 Settings (overall)
For a AAA game it should be standard, but here we missing options. For example:
-Custom frame rate limit, i dont need 200 fps and dont want to run my GPU at 100%.
-Hotkeys, game speed settings, pace and fuel hotkeys.
#3 Blue flags
I know its a hard one to code but it need fine tuning cause its ruining races.
-For example a lapped car coming out of the pit and my driver is just sloving down on the straight waiting for the white line to end and get behind the lapped car, then overtake it, instead of just coasting straight by him. Or when the driver finally starts to lap someone, the lapped car takes the outside line for the next corner, slows down to let me pass then just before the braking zone it suddenly changes the line for the inside, completly breaking the momentum of my attempt and i get stuck behind him for the next sector losing 4-5 sec.
And your quali is definetly ruined if you come even close to any type of blue flags situation on your flying lap.
#4 Racing line, animations, audio
-If you use the cockpit cam you can see that the driving animation, the line and the motion the car makes is not even close. I know its hard to make it represent all the variables but at least when you drive all alone it should make something similiar to a real life lap, but now its more like some 6 year old playing on a keyboard.
Animations missing basic physics just cut into the racing motion, its should be seamless.
-For the audio its the same, the same line of dialogues cut into the action like the some robot. The devs have access to unlimited radio messages and broadcast audio but it looks like they have put in the min possible. There should be tens or hundres of line for the same action to be lifelike and not the same messages after 2 raceweekends. Thats the simplest of this all i think, those just audio files, games size novadays dosent matter. Maybe add a few more music track to it.
-Player body clipping trough the halo, missing wheels on pit stop, double stacking car on the grid and things like this im sure already noticed.
#5 Gameplay, UI
Some of the game elements or rules are not implemented correclty or there is missing information.
-Practice session VSC? That should be red flag i think.
-In qualy its hard to see who is on good lap, who is improving, something like the broadcast UI would be great.
-Maybe add a projected out lap time (the one that you can see on the track info) before you send out someone.
-I did not know that the teams sending back tyres to the factory after each practice session, plus it seems like the tyre sent back is random if i only use 1 tyre the whole session, maybe i should choose?
-On the setup page i cannot see the older settings (only the slider wich is too small) and what was the drivers opinion on that.
-It could be nice to be able to pan around the 2D map. And if there would be more TV camera options, multiple angles.
-Wet tyres are OP, it is as fast as the Inters even in 1mm water, it does not overheat or wears more below 1mm. The crossover points not existing. When starts raining just put on wets and go until it drys up. Only can do a few hundred laps...
-Fuel ammount should be in thents like 24,6 kg and the delta is a bit off, really hard to use.
I dont meant to be whiney or complain about everything, i really like the game and im giving this as constructive criticism to build on. Im enjoying this game so much.
+1 Some of the drivers faces looks awful compared to the rest of it. (Verstappen, Alonso, Vettel :'D)
