[FA/Off] PvP Viper v FDL

Hello Viper Fans,

I get the best of an FDL, once I manage to separate him from his wing.

I think I'm getting better with this FA/Off thingy. Straffing was alot better this time.

It's short but I recover from what could have been a very bad mistake against a ranked Dangerous Cmdr.

Good effort.

If he had even a single chaff launcher - and given the FdLs six utility slots you will find that they generally do - you would have been a bit screwed with an all gimbal loadout.

Still, well played, no mean feat getting an FdL to bug when you are in a Viper.

Try it against a competent pilot though and you will get mauled.

All 'FA' off aside, you're running a tough setup there which allows you to keep four pips to shields for most of the fight and keep on firing. Not taking away anything from your piloting, but think you should give yourself more credit for good 'strategic' thinking - you win the battle of shields in the first flyby!

Dude, im not taking away anything from your skills - flying with FA Off is really tough, i cant do it - mad props for posting good vids but against a sensible loadout you would get mauled.

I know i sound like a but if i came up against a Viper with a full gimballed multi loadout i would just deck the throttles and reverski him while unleashing rails and spamming chaff. Job done.

Its good that you have the balls to go out there and fight with that setup though mate, respect :]

I've encountered this particular CMDR a few times, seems PvE focused. He's rarely got chaff and he doesn't use vertical or lateral thrust much at all.

I've fought him too. Better pilot, but that multi-cannon + PA setup is a useless loadout against someone with chaff who knows how to move.

I did still enjoy the videos, however.

TOUCHE!!! :) I think people assume because you were flying a viper that you were new :) Besides that though, we've got to respect the other players in the videos!!! I don't mean from a power play stance, but a win is a win!!! It's not use saying the guy had a bad loadout, was firing two class one pulse, or was drawing fan-fiction of the Princess while he was fighting, no fight is ever going to be completely fair so we should be graceful to the winner and loser! If I go out rescuing political prisoners in my attack ship, I have cargo scanners, hull breachers and cargo drones using up space that could be filled with shield cells, but if a player attacks me, I'm not going to say, oh, he beat me but I was unprepared...I'm going to say, fair play dude! :)
Same goes for how you treat the other guy in the video - Praise to the victor, but less slating of the loser - that may be you and I in this forum sometime :) Peace out

That is very well observed. Always survive the 1st flyby is very important against these bigger combat ships.

I still had to worry, I don't know yet what he can do and I make mistakes, I'm not fully polished yet with FA/Off but in the end I did find it easy. He allowed me to strafe.

I do run a tough set up. I very rarely get interdicted by an equal ship. It prolly wouldn't be wise for me to run any other set-up considering what I have to put up with.
We've had a wing of 2 x FDL and 2 x pythons in our system capital for 2/3 days ganking all little ships.
Even blowing them up leaving the station. They tried that with me but I survived with half my hull when in a Type6.

When I am alone they all interdict me. I obviously can't take that wing on my own so I have to bait and catch and be tough.
Up to them to work out how to beat me.

Loadout is critical.


If you were to go up against me and my wingman with those sorts of setups you wouldnt last long to be honest.


Thats not because we are l33t super pilots, im pretty average to be fair (although my wingman is very skilled indeed).


Fact is we have hundreds of hours of combat experience with every conceivable loadout and know what works.

Don't worry man, I didn't take any offense and it was all jokes. :)

When I can master fixed with FA/Off my loadout will be even tougher and more dps, that is for sure.
Chaff doesn't bother me, nor does reverse flying. It's very hard to counter sometimes but I've learnt some moves and yeah, I'm doing it a little different to the meta.
It's exactly what Hercules4 tried against me and I was lucky.

I only have a 1 in 2 ratio win against FDL's. It's not great but it's better than calling for a nerf on big ships like alot of threads. :D
I'm just not scared of anyone.

Yeah i got to that point. I had so much money that i just didnt care.


I was quite happy robbing at CGs in my Python and if someone did interdict me i would square up and rail em good. Although pride did get the better of me when outnumbered in a bunch of brawls and i jumped out.

He may have had a bad loadout (I never owned a FDL) but they were there for combat and only to kill as many as they could. And they did.

We all get caught with bad loadouts and have to make a decision to fight or not.
I had cannons earlier and when I jumped into a low wake to help a lone pilot against this wing, I knew I had to change to MC's and I did.

I think he used 2 SCB charges and they weren't top rated from what I can tell. I guess he hasn't maxed out on power yet.
I dunno, I just beat someone who's been trying and has killed me (with a wing) in the last few days.

Yes, after the fight all is forgotten and back to normal.
I'm just glad to have a fight, win or lose.
