FA Off: What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the "training regimen."
Out of curiousity why a Sidewinder instead of the ship you normally fly?
Or is the Sidewinder good for a basic demo and the principles are the same for all ships? Even the big ones?

Yeah, it's the same for all ships! I just think the Sidey might be easier to learn in; it has a small profile for one thing, so it is easier to land on most planets. She also has a decent FoV too.

I also REALLY like the Sidewinder. :)

I think learning to fly without assist is easier (and more necessary) in heavier ships.

In a light ship you'll be twitching all over the place and it will be really hard to counteract/balance forces.

Flying FA Off at the blue zone, you turn as you would if you were boosting so you don't need to boost to turn.

Boosting from the blue zone while turning further increases your turn rate.

I'm by no means remotely an expert on this. So, just taking a wild stab...

I agree with CMDR YinYin. A Sidey is kind of twitchy. I also think that's one of the reasons for practicing with it.

CMDR DukrIronHand, I think you're on the right track with your thinking here. I'd also add, there's no need to turn your fav ship into a sacrificial goat and drain your hard earned cash unnecessarily, right? But hey, if you're already livin' large, then be in charge brothah. :)

I love the listed exercises and will now be getting in some much needed practice myself. ^^ (much, much needed)

Here's a quick video I have just recorded to illustrate the points I made above.

It is seriously rough around the edges! :/
