FA Off: What am I doing wrong?

Out of curiousity why a Sidewinder instead of the ship you normally fly?
Or is the Sidewinder good for a basic demo and the principles are the same for all ships? Even the big ones?

Yeah, it's the same for all ships! I just think the Sidey might be easier to learn in; it has a small profile for one thing, so it is easier to land on most planets. She also has a decent FoV too.

I also REALLY like the Sidewinder.

Question from a n00b here. At what point is the correct time to turn off FA?

I think learning to fly without assist is easier (and more necessary) in heavier ships.

In a light ship you'll be twitching all over the place and it will be really hard to counteract/balance forces.

Boosting from the blue zone while turning further increases your turn rate.

I'm by no means remotely an expert on this. So, just taking a wild stab...

I agree with CMDR YinYin. A Sidey is kind of twitchy. I also think that's one of the reasons for practicing with it.

CMDR DukrIronHand, I think you're on the right track with your thinking here. I'd also add, there's no need to turn your fav ship into a sacrificial goat and drain your hard earned cash unnecessarily, right? But hey, if you're already livin' large, then be in charge brothah.

I love the listed exercises and will now be getting in some much needed practice myself. ^^ (much, much needed)
