Hardware & Technical FaceTrackNoIR on Combat Tutorial

I have been successfully using the FaceTrackNoIR software with FSX & Mechwarrior online, however I can't get it to work with Elite Dangerous Combat Tutorial demo, I don't have any of the alphas etc.
Do I have something set up incorrectly? I have tried numerous options on NoIR and Elite but no joy.
I'm now guessing the head-tracking is not a part of this combat tutorial.

Should it work? If so what have I got wrong?

Many thanks
Tim

I have same problem with freetrack. it works too a degree but the screen keeps flashing and glitching, making the game unplayable. I have seen on youtube various people using a head tracker but they have all been TRACkIR 5 plus they have been on the beta trials.

I too have issues with it, while it works and picks up my head movement in game it is very erratic and also the side panels do not work and the Left and Right bumpers on my xbox controller no longer work.

yes they said they fixed support but haven't, you need the .csv file for freetrack ..... mine glitches too without it
see here there are also other links on forum. Freetrack is smooth as silk with the .csv which is linked here

I could not get it working either, spent a whole nights gaming trying and purchased a web cam for it.

Luckily my wife signed off on TrackIR 5!! worked straight out of the box.

Shame really I love to support freely developed projects and open source, just don't want the time to fiddle with them when a "product" just works.

I looked at ED tracker too before they were building units for sale and decided that the time thing is what would cost me the most, when all i really want it to just play the game !!

Hey for some of us it's about lack of funds, and for others it's all about the tinkering and adjusting, but time, can't argue with that :) Long as you got the cash :)

Although it took me more than a night's gaming to get it spot on, actually about a weeks worth of tinkering here and there :) But once it's working good with a 3 point IR it's mint :)

Don't forget to put the measurements of the homemade ir headset into freetack.
Don't forget to remove the ir filter from the webcam.
Do try different dark transparent filters such as sunglasses lenses or camera film to filter out the uv light from the cam.

Ideally you just want a black picture in freetrack with 3 dots showing and nothing else.

Thanks Zachary.. I have not tried it that way.. i will give it ago and try and fine tune too my spec, i was going too get a trackir5 BUT when freetrack is running well i think, what is the point spendind £150 (in U.K with pro clip but). When i managed too make 2 different head trackers for about £20 incl soldering iron, plus i have spare parts too make a couple more, and another £10 i could make about 5 clips. The only problem is the software side. New game or updates of a game/sim can be hard too setup and frustrating. I have given up a few times on a sim then gone back later when new updated software as come too life for the sim or freetrack to make it functional. Anyway i will keep you all updated.

The Tracking started working for me now. I think there was an update to Facetrack software and it just worked. Strange thing is that in the old software successfully detected Elite Dangerous, but did not work. With the new version it fails to detect the game, comes up with some message like 'Game code xxxx not recognised'. However it does work a treat.

Go figure.
Thanks for all the help.
