I like the new patch. It offers a lot of information and an interesting take on the varied factions.
One thing that worries me is that the game may turn into a grinding game, opposed to a dynamic 'sandbox' type of battlefield, survival and exploration game. I hope to see the game become more persistent and less like a grinding race. That is to say, these 'Military Strike' zones should be 'winnable', that is, a finite set of ships rather than endless numbers with no real 'end' to the fight.
I digress a little however.
I hope one day, when the game becomes more persistent and brings people together in large battles that a chat system will be provided to bring the players together.
I hope there will be player commanders, appointed to this position for a finite time based on merit, battle rating, nobility and naval rank. A command channel would be useful to coordinate efforts for fleet commanders, squad and wing commanders as well. But it would only matter if there was a way to provide a persistent, finite battle(without unlimited enemies to kill) so it becomes a true siege than just a place to fight endlessly, aiming for a number on a mission.
Additionally faction specific channels, range channels(which is already in game) - means to bring players together to coordinate efforts for a common goal that is either globally(faction related) chosen or chosen by the fleet commander currently in command of said fleet.
I really hope this game becomes a true persistent space-combat battlefield game. Persistent battles, winable battle, a 'tug of war' type of thing as each side is attempting to push the other in or out to capture starports or planets.
If it ends up being a grinding race, where the side with more people wins opposed to the side with better teamwork and skill will not help to make this game into a decades-long dynasty that it should and could be. There is absolutely nothing like this game right now(star citizen doesn't count if you can fight in 3rd person) and I hope it becomes a truly player-driven, living game.
Thanks for reading.
