Powerplay Faction home systems for new and existing players.

Wouldn't it be great if each factions home system was advertised in game somehow? I think it would bring the community together and give excited new players some early goals to work towards (if they desire). Would this be worth mentioning to the devs? Even just some bold text in the powerplay menu; "Home system is...".

I think having populated home systems would provide a sense of "belonging" and create more excitement and possibilities to interact with others.

Any thoughts?

Interesting idea!

i think, the devs have stated, that they don't see powerplay as an occupation for beginners in the game.

also, the headquarters are quite obvious if you use the powerplay galaxy map.

and they are named under stats in the powerplay tab...

or are you not talking about powerplay, but about the three capitals sol, achenar, alioth? all three are permit-locked, you need to rank in the navies (federal imperial) or get allied with alioth independents to be able to visit; i don't think that sol needs advertisement, achenar is in the gal news very regularly, and alioth - well.

I was told the same thing when I started back in June. Knowing this I chose a home system that WAS far from the party balloons on the map. However, not long after this the red blob of some federation bloke expanded to include my home system. I had been supporting the Free Frey faction trying to help them get control from the Conservatives who were aligned with the feds but when the system flipped a mining company appeared from nowhere and took control!?!

So how am I as a 'newish' player supposed to not get occupied by PP when it drags me in? Who thought it was a good idea to have a system where the rich get richer and the poor noobs stay poor?

It's as if a low level alt in a true MMO had fallen into an endgame raid!

Seems my only option is to move somewhere else and start again... So much for playing the game without PP

Was it PP that caused the Mining faction to take over or was it a Player Minor faction that appeared?
As PP taking over a system doesn't effect the Minor factions at all.
People may try to install a Minor faction that aligned with their Power but that have to do it via the BGS, and it wont happen over night, there will need to be the gathering of influence and a war/election

A faction that appeared overnight and gets control - injection of Player Minor faction and completely unrelated to PP

New faction is called C & S mining Co. which doesn't sound very player group. They were not even a system faction before the red blob expanded to cover the area. Not sure why the faction that was in control changed either as they were aligned with the Feds - hence why I was working against them.

Just found it strange, now when I'm back their I just shoot anything with the new factions name on it and don't take their missions either!

Fair point.

The three capitals would be ideal in my opinion. New players would then have to work towards attaining a permit so they could visit these bustling hubs :)
People just need to be made fully aware that these places exist (eg. billboards or in station messages).

The idea is just to create some well known populated zones in the game where players can mingle, trade, even potentially form big raiding parties to venture into enemy "home" systems for some large scale pvp?

The game feels quite empty at times because the galaxy is so vast and players don't have any indication of where to find other players. And creating these populated areas would solve that.
Of course those that want to be left alone also have that option by venturing out into less known regions. :)

Any thoughts?
