faction influence and being fined

Causing trouble is a way to reduce sector owner influence. Killing ships - brutal and effective. I also read that fines can also have negative impact on owner's influence. But how large is the impact? How high must be the fine to take effect? I accidentally jettisoned a full load of manure and wow, got me a ticket worth of 12000 credits! I was wondering on negative impacts of jettisoning cargo in station vicinity and being fined in effect. Is this a good strategy to undermine besides doing missions? What is the impact of jettisoning solely in a small population system? Anyone did such experiment? Worth it nor not? If I pay the fine on same day is negative effect going to be included in next cycle?

Dredging my memory here, but I think Jane(?) commented in a thread from earlier this year (discussing the merits of only committing assaults, rather than murders, to avoid the notoriety) that murders were something like three times as effective as assaults. Not sure if that was a comparison of equivalent Credit value or number of incidents.

EDIT - But do fines still contribute to reducing the Security Level of the jurisdictional faction?

The easy way to find out would be to carpet-bomb a planetary settlement (which is generally an easy way to rack up a ton of assaults but no murders) and see what effect it has, then do an equivalent number of murders the next day.

@FrogsFriend that was me testing! Assaults are 1/4 a murder and to me an exploit really because you can cane them silly with no notoriety or ATR pushback.

From my tests, fines did not affect the security rating but I suspect they affect the economic slider on discovery.

There are some quite strange exceptions to all this though. For example in SC its possible under the right circumstances to annoy security enough via non-violent means to trigger ATR in real space.

Anyone know the effect being lvl 5 rated with Archon has on this.

Are the fines reduced to zero but still count for bgs purposes, ie is it still registered as an assault/murder?
