Faction loyalty and replacing faction ranking

*Skip to next paragraph to ignore review of faction rank* In it's current state, the rank system seems very repetitious and lacking in incentive to do it outside of getting the ships as well as just saying that you accomplished it to others. Even then it seems very odd that you can be say a King in Imperials while being an Admiral in the Federation. That would kinda be a tiny small conflict of interest and in a realistic setting (if anyone still says ED is going for realism) that would somewhat like having the rank of admiral in the United States Navy and being one in the Russian Federation. Better to replace and reward with being in one at a time along side merging with Powerplay since that gets even more internally confusing when you're sided with a power of the Federation and are a Baron in the Imperials. [blah]

Introducing Faction Loyalty! [smile]

As you do missions for a faction you max out to 100% then can choose to side with a faction then pick a leader to support along the line. Each time you increase you position you gain a percent off of things purchased at a station controlled by that faction as a show of loyalty rather than having discount just because of the station doing that. Once you reach certain ranks you would also unlock special faction locked weapons already in Powerplay as well as the ships from current ranking system with both integrated into this system. Killing rival factions would net you loyalty points where as killing friendlies would decrease points.

Discounts for loyalty

As for percentage of discount for each rank say about2-5% per each rank-up, once you reach tier 14 (from current system) you'd end up with a 28%-70% discount on things you bought from the faction stations of loyalty. [money] This would definitely give a reason to max rank for your loyal side and increase player influence upon controlling factions of a station rather thank warping to the nearest Li Yong-Rui system for a deal. As for the merit system with Powerplay that would still be present but only if you choose a power after you've gained the faction's loyalty at tier 1 with the Powerplay allegiance being separate.

Integration

The weapons and equipment would shift over to loyalty systems due to the fact that all Powers reward you with a single different item for each yet some come from the same faction and would have likely had the same production company like Gutamaya for the Imperials. The slot they took in merits would just be more cash or nothing since merits already cut themselves in half each week. This whole system connects but separates those interested in earning money through the Powerplay and those interested in buying ships and weapons through loyalty with both still needing to choose a faction for at least 1 rank and stick with it while naturally ranking up in loyalty as you do Powerplay faction killing. To earn loyalty for other factions you would have to leave your faction through betrayal, leaving faction or perhaps a leave faction button with a reset on your loyalty because you are committing treason each time you leave a power to support another unless it is one in the same faction as an example the Duvals :D

Wrap up time! :D

What are eyeryone's thoughts on current system and this new loyalty system? [smile]
