Although I've read some material on the three main factions, I don't really feel as though I have a good understanding of who they are and what they stand for yet. Take the Federation for example; they're described as bureaucratic and authoritarian, with crony capitalism and a superficial commercialist culture. However, this leaves me wondering why we should feel enthusiastic about supporting them. They seem grey and dull, and I have little idea what motivates their volunteers aside from a paycheck.
The Alliance doesn't seem to stand out much either; they have a 'friendly rivalry' with the Federation according to the wiki, and they represent what people feel the Federation ideally should be like, but it's not as though they seem very radical. They seem like a bit more liberal and democratic version of the Federation, that's all. Nothing much to get excited about, I think.
What I'd really like to see would be a propaganda video for each faction, which might present the values of each faction and good arguments for why we ought to join them, all in-character of course. In example, I'm pretty sure the Federation would surge in popularity if a propaganda video like this was produced.
Planetside 2 was a game which utilized this fairly well, with one decent propaganda video for each faction (ref: 1, 2, 3).
I think propaganda videos would be a great lore-friendly way to communicate faction ideology and values, and inspire more players to support the currently less popular factions. Do you have any thoughts about this?
