I need to raise my factions rank to buy the Imperial Clipper and a have a couple of questions
1. if I raise Empire factions rank will I still be allowed into Federation space?
2. What's the quickest way to raise faction rank?

1 Yes, I believe you can gain ranks in both

2, You'll need to do the navy upgrade missions, I am 'Lord' in empire navy ranks but still neutral in rep

At the moment, it is perfectly possible to raise rank in both navies as has been mentioned. I'm an Earl in the empire and neutral to the feds. Even get naval progression offers from them but don't accept that.

They're not at war and even have cooperative units. Would be interesting to see what happens to commanders having ranks in both if that would change.

Yes you can gain ranks in both, but I believe you shouldn't be able to. Doesn't make sense.

They will probably let you as they will both think you are spying on their behalf
