Faction ranks

I'm at the stage (have been for a while actually) where the Federation are offering me a ranking mission.

Before I accept it, I would like to know if it's possible to achieve rank in more than one of the three main factions?

If I'm going to be stuck with just one, I'd like to know before I make any decision so I can consider my options before proceeding.

Hi, I actually got a probleme with empire ranks... I'm Lord, and all imperial summons I get now, is the one to get summerland permit... but I already have it so it is not obtainable...

someone suggested that it gets blocked like that when you get allied with a faction too fast... maybe i will try make myself neutral again to see if i get new federation naval missions. on the other hand Michael Brookes posted that they will look into this issue.
