I have to go with federation. When I see the ship design, its what I picture in my head what military ships will look like in the future. What really sold me on the Federation was the design on the cruiser that they showed off. As soon as I saw it, I immediately made my choice. They have the kind of ships that I have always wanted to walk around in.

If I had to make a second choice it would be the Imperials. They have some interesting looking ships that I would like to try out. They have some nice curves and seem like luxury military ships. My only question is will you be paying extra for that luxury because if you do, then I will stick with the Feds.

The alliance would be my third choice, they designs look good but just not as good as the others. I do think its cool that they have taken the original ships and redesigned them for this game. If I am strapped for cash, I could see myself picking up some of these ships.

Long range cruisers, they were called. One of my favourite designs from Frontier.

My money would be on them appearing as the Alliance equivalent of the Imp and Fed cruisers we've already seen in the concept art.

I just realised the LRC from Frontier can't be an equivalent class to the cruisers we've seen from ED. It's too big!

From the concept of the Imperial ship shown next to the Anaconda in newsletter #2 I would estimate it to be around 500 metres long.

The Long Range Cruiser from Frontier is five kilometres in length. It's absolutely gigantic.

Had to vote for the Empire, all their ship designs in the updates have been beautiful.

Unlike OneoftheLost if you cut my character in half you will see "loyal Federation Citizen". I seem no reason why I cannot use an Empire ship to carry Federation missions, should the ship be adequate for the task.

I do really like the Sidewinder design, and think I'll be keeping one of those in my hangar. Probably I'll try and keep my starting ship for posterity - when I'm wealthy, I'll treat it with the utmost of respect, wash and wax it every week, and only take it out on Sunday afternoons.

The Imperial cruisers have a design flaw

The Imperial cruisers have a design flaw with the spinning section being parallel with the direction of acceleration. The ship will be fine when it is not accelerating, but when it is, the people and things in the spinning section will be pulled one way, and then the opposite direction as they spin round. In between these, they will feel lighter and then heavier. The reason that this will occur is that when the ship accelerates, everything inside the ship will feel a force pulling them in the opposite direction. For the people in the spinning section, this direction will be constantly changing. For these people, it will feel very much like a ship pitching up and down in heavy sea, depending on the actual acceleration.

A much better design would have the spinning section spinning perpendicular to the direction of acceleration, as when the ship accelerates, it will feel like the ship is sloped, with the slope going down towards the back of the ship. The slope, however, be constant whilst the ship was accelerating at a constant acceleration.
