Factions expand into unpopulated systems with player help

I think we should create a mechanic to allow factions to expand into UNPOPULATED systems and once they do Frontier need to place a base. It should be very hard to achieve I think and would go nicely with commander owned basebuilding. For example you need to have built by at least one base (mining, agri, industrial) and the trade through all such bases must amount to CRxxx million per tick based on the Ly distance from the nearest system of the faction you choose to ally your base with. If this can be sustained for X tiks then success. Maybe you don't even need Frontier to place a base in fact, maybe players ones are enough. They have shown that they can do it with FCs, and they move!!!! I realise Dav may hate me if this ever happens.

While i would like that, according to all we know, there's technical reasons against it.

As far as we players know, almost all stations in the game are created from the galaxys seed. Only a few selected onces are placed by hand. If factions could expand the way you described, a lot more would have to be saved and maintained on server side.

Yes, fleet carriers are an example that it can be done. But considering how many systems and factions we have in the game, the number of sites would explode... unless the system would be extremely restrictive. Which would result in people complaining that it would not work. Which even could be true, as FD would simply say "rarely expanding is as designed".

Also, unless you impmelent a "and if things go wrong, a base blows up" mechanic, it would in the run of time result in all systems in the bubble being populated in limited time.

I get your idea, but i think the possible problems might outweight the gains. (Especially considering how slowly things which i consider really valuable for the game evolve... i don't think that more time and server stability should be sacrificed for something like this. Personal point of view, of course. )

Base building. the only issue is how it will effect the BGS? That would be tricky

So in theory, someone could drop their faction right in the middle of another player group's territory? That would be hilarious, do it!
