"Failed to communicate with server" when trying to access mission board

Yup, last night...time to fool around with the external cam.:p
Happened to me once last night jumping between systems.

Note: if this happens while you're jumping, you'll lose the fuel you used charging your FSD when you log back in. In my case I had scooped the star I left and the jump was a short one, so it was no big deal. On a low tank with a long jump ahead though ...

Make sure you check the gas gauge if this happens to you.

It's been happening for most of the night tonight. The mission board has always been slow for me since 2.1, taking upwards of 30 seconds to come up with a list of jobs, but it just hasn't been working at all today. They NEED more servers. There's no getting around it.

I have found it only worth playing in Solo since 2.1 hit as I get this way too much in any other option. I still get it in Solo, just not all the time.

Anyone else getting this? It's happened a few times before too. I've checked my internet connection and it is fine.

Blame Frontier and their lack luster server system!

THIS has been going on for YEARS with ED now! Why they are unable to get such a simple system to work properly is beyond me. Couple this issue with the mission system's lack of variety and you have one of the biggest turn-offs for me personally.

Mission board lagged for me today..maybe 1-2mins as opposed to its "normal" 2-3seconds.

Witchspace jumps lagged twice..and game lagged really bad when I was changing over a ship..so bad I gave up and reset the PC.

For some reason I couldnt alt-tab and close game from Taskmanager. Really odd.

When I had rebooted and relogged it had in fact changed my ships so no loss.

Today has been the only really laggy day Ive noticed in a long while.
Sorry to hear of a lot of folks having any issues.

Hmm..just had a thought.. it was fairly stormy today in parts of the UK where I live .. maybe that had a something to do with it.?
Maybe flooding in a power substation somewhere..I dunno..power relays switching over, causing spikes in the network?

I have been unable to access the mission board for the past 5 mins in single play i was able to access them with a few errors in priv / open modes just b4 mode swaping to solo.

i have quit out for now will relog in a bit to see if its any better

Its their servers, as others have said. unless you're playing on an old 28.8kbaud modem, there is nothing you can do. If you switch from open to solo, you might connect to another, lesser loaded, server if you are lucky. Really annoying lately.

+1! this very nearly caught me out a couple of weeks ago. to make my trade route in my T9 in 1 jump i was running with 20% fuel. the network boobed and i lost the fuel. it was ok for me jumping between 2 systems both with fueling stations but i can see how this could unfairly punish a player. that said i bet FD would sort this on a bug report, or better yet, give the rats something to do ;)

TLDR imo the servers are currently bordering on not fit for purpose if you play at popular times, and have been so imo for some time. either FD are being too tight with what they are paying Amazon, or Amazon need a kick in the nads for not full filling their service properly
